In short: The hardest race i've ever done..... In full: never have i seen a race start with so many runners wearing jackets and weren't they the wise ones! Conditions made this years plod the hardest race i have ever done and forget spending hundreds of pounds on waterproof jackets - they just don't work when its as bad as it was on sunday. At least for us runners though we could keep moving and head towards the finish but for the marshals, who were absolutly brilliant, a huge thank you and cannot believe how cheerful and encouraging you were, especially when you consider how long they were out there for. thank you Pompey joggers for another great event Date of review: February 12, 2013

In short: got to be one of the best off-road races around and for just £9 - with a tee-shirt thown in as well - long may it continue In full: a proper off-road race which welcomes all standards of runner at a great price - why would anyone even dream of paying out £40 for the alternate race today down at pompey when you can get this for just £9? hills as hard as ever, seem to get longer every year but encouraged all the way round by the friendly marshals and fellow runners - the advantage of having to walk the hills i suppose! great cakes and sandwiches at the end plus a free massage - why wouldn't you do this race? In short: well organised friendly race with great scenery In full: well done Hardley, another well organised race. Great scenery and views (bar the last couple of miles) of both the New Forest and Solent on this slightly undulating course - tough from mile 9 when its a gradual climb from the seafront at Lepe but nothing too drastic to take away the enjoyment of an excellent half. see you next year Date of review: October 15, 2012

In short: what a great off-road race In full: well done totton, great off road race with enough hills to make it a real challenge in this part of the world. Please pass on my thanks to the marshalls - lots of smiles (or where they laughing at us struggling up those hills) and encouragement and plenty of them all round the course. All topped of by an impressive 'race village' and goody bag. Looking forward to next year Date of review: October 24, 2011

In short: definitely one of the best races i've done this year In full: thank you organisers - a great, low-key, off-road race - lots of hills, very limited tarmac and a fast downhill finish - just need to get rid of that last lap round the playing fields! brilliant finish area - cake stall, bbq for the burgers and sausages, bar for the tea and pint, changing rooms with showers plus a masseur to help with the sore legs from all those hills. Well done and see you next year. Date of review: October 20, 2011

In short: well organised club race but not so impressive goodie bag at finish In full: scenic half, taking in the new forest and beach, but a bit of a long, slow uphill drag over the last couple of miles to the finish. friendly marshals and enough drink stations on the course but really could have done with more water at the end - just a small bottle available for each runner, would have been nice to have a drinks station at the finish as well. Goody bag disapointing - just a nutty bar and a race diary. Date of review: October 12, 2011

In short: great run and great organisation In full: excellent introduction to off-road running with majority of race held over wide gravel forest trails with a few undulations but no major hills (though the loop at mile 8 felt like it).

In short: really friendly low-key race ideal for the non-club runners amongst us In full: very fast first half down to the turn point at lepe beach (even with the shingle!) but definitely slower second half back to the gardens. great friendly marshals and a nice free tour round the gardens afterwards. see you next year. In short: nice friendly low-key village race In full: what a lovely friendly low-key race. Had the option of a 5k or 10k which was ideal as organisers more than happy for the non-runners of the family to walk the 5 route and end up finishing around the same time as the 10 runners. tough race though, couple of very long hills but at least there were also the downs to compensate - virtually all the race held on traffic free gravel or farm tracks Date of review: September 26, 2010

In short: great friendly race but so,so tough, though worth it for the views In full: forget the pbs, the hills mean that there is no chance but what an enjoyable race. Two really tough hills, first when leaving Swanage and heading towards Studland/Corfe and then on the backroads after Corfe but good thing with all that climbing is a last couple of glorious downhill miles to the finish. Lots of very friendly marshals and plenty of drink stations and fortunately i finished far enough up the field so that i had a choice of momentos - maybe the race organisers should advertise that only pre-entered runners are guarenteed momentos and any spares are then given out to day entries after the race (or just not accept day entries) to save them running out.
