In short: Couldn't fault it
In full: Seriously, can't think of anything they could have done better for me. My first half, and probably the best organised race I've done, considering the scale of it. Great course (even the much-dreaded hill was easier than I expected) and support all the way, good water and lucozade stations (and bottles/pouches are much better than plastic cups), organisation around start and finish was great (I'm glad they cut the chip off as I couldn't reach my feet by that point). The clocks on the mile markers were a nice touch, and I actually now own a race T-shirt that fits me, never usually get XL t-shirts at all. And a nice goody bag with a nice chunky medal. Nope, still can't think of a complaint.

In short: still a tough but excellent race
In full: everything I said last year still applies, but I'm a bit quicker now, so not quite so close to last place this time. Will be back again next time too - could definitely go faster

In short: yep, still well worth getting out of bed for
In full: Great fun, the mud was still there, but there seemed to be more hills than I remembered - might have just blanked them out. First mile is still all uphill, and the continuing lack of mile markers meant that once the garmin went mental under the trees I struggled a bit with my pacing - still took almost five minutes off last year's time. I also forgot that you can't see the finish from the bottom (literally, its a hill) of the finish straight, its just round the corner at the top, so it can be tricky to pace yourself up there. Great marshalls too. The general lack of races in january makes this one stand out but I'd do it whatever month it was. Will be back next year, I'll be after another five minutes off the time.

In short: Fantastic race, rubbish finish
In full: Great location and scenery, generally well-organised, marshalls did a great job of controlling the cars and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Calling it flat/undulating is a bit cheeky, I can't remember any bits of it that were flat for any distance, it was up or down the whole way. Quite often I got to what I thought must be the top and I thought it would be downhill from there, only to see the next uphill around the corner. Beat my PB and my target for the year though. On the downside, the finish was a mess. Having the finish line clearly marked (taking into account the fact that most runners have tunnel vision by that stage in a race) by something as simple as marking a line on the road would make a real difference, at least people would be able to get an accurate time for themselves. And being really picky, could they not have given out the T-shirts in the hall rather than in the doorway which left me queuing in the cold with my knees seizing up and no water for ten minutes. If they can sort out these niggles I'd be happy to come back next year.

In short: Please get the route and distance right next time
In full: Last year it was supposed to be 3.5m and ended up 5K, this year it was supposed to be 5K and turned out to be 3.5m. I know its a fun run, but it would be nice to know how long the race is before you get to 3 miles. All of the other 15 races I have done this year have been the distance they were supposed to be, how hard can it be? Also telling people that the route has changed before they start would be a nice touch. The goody bags were excellent, and it was generally good fun and well organised, but the minor niggles spoiled a fun day.

In short: Fantastic.
In full: Lovely day, great route (nice hills, great scenery in sections and a pretty town to start off), fantastic support and marshalling and very well organised. Only minor gripe is that some of the mile markers were a bit out. My first 10m, I'd do it again, if not tomorrow, then as soon as my legs and feet have stopped hurting. Thanks to NWRRC for a cracking day.

In short: Nice race
In full: Everyone else has done the main complaints - bags should have been in the trucks, or at least the signs should have been on top of the tent where people could see them. Can't believe people checked the date on the water, I couldn't even tell you what colour the label was. very good marshalling and marking, the race itself was excellent, its just the fiddly bits that need tightening up for next year. Managed 3 minutes off my PB, but the number of people to dodge meant I think I could go faster still.

In short: Free santa suit - what more do you want?
In full: my first race, very enjoyable and 2000 santas in the middle of liverpool is an incredible sight - as we converged on the start, the people wearing normal clothes started to look out of place. And for a good cause. Will definitely do this again in 2005.

In short: Well-organised, quick, flat, nice goody bag, very good race
In full: Only negative was a couple of narrow sections made it hard to get clear of slower runners early on, mostly paths were wide and flat, generally very good. I also remember thinking it would be better if it was run the other way round the course but I can't remember why.
