In short: Boy those last 3 miles are tough! In full: I've always thought half marathons are 3.1 miles too long and this race is a typical example. I was heaidng towards a pb but then those hills in the last 3 miles which gave me a bit of cramp pegged me back a bit. However some of my clubmates got pbs so it's not impossible! As others have said this is a really well organised race. The goody bag was a bit disappointing but had the most essential component -a choccy bar - so I will thank you for that! In short: One of my all time favourite races. In full: Everything about this race is pretty much perfect and I'll keep coming back every year. Thanks very much to all those who makes this a great success from the car park helpers to the on-course marshals. This year I got a PB for 10 miles as well - bonus! Date of review: July 12, 2011
In short: Surely they can do better than this? In full: This is quite an expensive 10k - especially when you consider they don't have chip timing. So whilst they have expenses to meet, surely some arrangement can be made. What's happening to the mugs? If they intend to use them next year, then next years entry fee should be reduced. I will remember.......... Date of review: January 11, 2010
In short: A great race for my first marathon. In full: I must add my congratulations to the whole team that organised the race, everything about it was just about perfect. The marshalling, the facilities, the encouragement from everyone - it all added up to make this a very special experience. Thank you. Date of review: October 19, 2009
In short: Perfection! In full: Racing in sunglasses always makes me feel good and all the ingredients were there to make this a great race. Yes I got a PB, I enjoyed the cake, I got my T Shirt, and the weather was nice enough to have a good natter afterwards with my club mates. Date of review: April 1, 2009
In short: Great new course, superb organisation, well done SGRAC! In full: Having missed last year through my own silly fault, I was pleased to be on the start line this year. The new course is great and I don't think the couple of hills will prevent PBs - in fact I got one!
For me, this is always the first road race of the year and will always remain special as my first 10k ever some years ago and the fact I've set a PB 4 times out of 5.
The organisation really is first class and the colour coded numbers worked well I thought - however I suspect people are sometimes too optimistic in their forecast times!
This is one of the great races. Date of review: January 19, 2009
In short: A perfect race! In full: For some reason, I've never done well here but inspired by the superb weather and my friends in Victory AC, I ran a good PB. I too was surprised when we didn't hit the cycle track earlier which may have shortened the race slightly but I don't care, I would have got the PB anyway. Date of review: December 8, 2008
In short: Felt great, dry and mild, got PB, what more can I say? In full: Just a little more. My first time at Lordshill and the course is made for PBs. Broke my 10 mile PB for the second time in 8 days and achieved a "lifetime target" of under 75 minutes. New target required! Well organised, slight confusion over directions to the car park though. In short: A contender for race of the year? In full: My fifth time here and it just gets better! My only gripe is the congested first half mile but I still got a PB anyway - I'll start nearer the front next year. Overall this must be the best race in the calendar - all credit must go the organisers and marshals - with a special mention to the announcer who is so essential to the day going well. In short: Magnificent bluebells this year! In full: This is a great race and I come back to test myself on this challenging course each year. The start was quite congested but worth it to change around the finish and car parking - well done the organisers. Only gripe, could do with car parking marshals to prevent everyone going up the same track, would have been quicker to direct people 2 ways from the gate. Date of review: April 28, 2008
