In short: A well organised challenging race In full: The organisation was very good. Parking was close to the start/finish. Marshals were enthusiastic and in particular the road crossings and junctions were very well organised. It is an undulating/hilly course, which added to the challenge. Hope to do it again and maybe a little faster next time. Date of review: September 23, 2013
In short: Well organised event In full: This race is always well organised, with plenty of marshals out on the course. The quiet rural course is hilly in places, but this provides a good test of early season fitness. Post race baggage collection is quick and easy and the chance to buy a warm drink and a piece of cake is particularly welcome. I look forward to next year's race, but hope the weather isn't sold cold. Date of review: February 26, 2013
In short: Very well organised race and great value for the entry fee In full: Plenty of parking near to race HQ; first and last 1/2 mile on closed road; rest of the race on fairly quite undulating country lanes; plenty of marshals; chip timing; technical t-shirt (plus coffee and cakes available at the end.) In short: An enjoyable race In full: An enjoyable event, well organised, with plenty of enthusiastic marshals and volunteers, plus on course support from Mick and Phil. The route has a few undulations, but it is a very pleasant setting, enhanced by the fine weather this year. Well done to all those involved in organising the race. Date of review: March 15, 2012
In short: Mostly flat (and mostly wet and cold this year) In full: Plenty of cheap parking (30p an hour)and the proximity of the shopping centre and Xscape meant there was somewhere warm to shelter from the rain.
The start could be improved with signs for predicted finishing times. First couple of miles were downhill and traffic free. Agree with other reviewers that some car drivers around 3 to 4 mile section showed a lack of consideration.
The last few miles of this race are always a challenge. Firstly the undulating section around the 10th and 11th miles, and then the uphill section from the 12 mile marker. The drop in temperature and the increased rainfall made this part hard work.
No goody bag, but if it would cost more to have one I would rather continue to pay less.
My thanks to the marshals and volunteers who must have been as cold and wet as the runners.
Getting out of the car park was easy.
Would certainly run this one again, hopefully with better weather next year.
In short: Very well organised In full: Very well organised, with on site parking, plenty of toilets, no delays with chip collection etc. Lots of water and energy drinks available around the course, on what was a very hot day. On a day with average October weather the course would have definite PB potential.
In short: A course that is designed for speed In full: Easy to park. Signing up on the evening was straightforward. The course is ideal for a PB attempt. There isn't too much congestion at the start and it's relatively flat all round and of course traffic free. Date of review: May 6, 2011
In short: Well organised 10K In full: The course continues to provide a challenge, but also the potential for a fast time. Number collection, baggage store, etc all straightforward. Marshalling was as good as ever, particularly at the road junctions.
Slight delay to the start this year, but if there are a few late arrivals it is probably only fair to give them a bit of extra time.
Chip to chip timing (if possible) would be an improvement. The start was a bit conjested, maybe because some of the late arrivals joined the front.
In short: Well organised and a pleasant course. In full: Well organised race, with plenty of marshals. Easy to get to, with parking near to the finish line. A pleasant route mainly along country lanes, with just one significant uphill section (early on) and the chance to run back down the hill in the penultimate mile. Date of review: April 7, 2011
