In short: Beautiful, Brilliant, Brutal!!! In full: My 15th Marathon and probably the hardest. However, the views were amazing and the organisation was fab. Great cameraderie with other runners - I really enjoyed myself despite the pain. We were very lucky with the weather but those hills were BRUTAL!! Great medal, t-shirt and pint glass. Thank you Andy and team. Date of review: June 29, 2014
In short: Hilly, Muddy, Windy and Fabulous!! In full: Why run on boring flat tarmac when you can get muddy and tired on hills?? I loved every bit of this, yes even the hill at the end!! Used this as a training run for the Giants Head Marathon and really enjoyed myself. Big respect to those who did the full or ultra. I may even have a go at the full marathon next year. In short: And I was worried about getting too hot??!!! In full: As it was my 10th full marathon, I thought I'd go local and glad I did. The course is hard but interesting, the marshalls were excellent and I was happy with my efforts despite you know what! Would love to do this again without the rain to see how I do. Thanks to all involved. Date of review: September 25, 2012
In short: Fab!! In full: I only decided to do the 30k at the last minute with others from Poole Runners doing various distances. This was ideal marathon training. The organisation was excellent, despite there being a choice of 11 runs or walks on the day. A real friendly event with excellent marshalls, directions and feed stations. Really enjoyed this and may even consider the 50k ultra one day! My only very minor criticism would be to request more of the excellent info provided on the day to be on the website. Other than this, top marks and a great way to raise money for a very deserving cause. Thank you. Date of review: August 14, 2012
In short: FAB, as ever! In full: This is the best AND hardest 20 miler you will ever do! Love it. My 4th attempt and loved it all. Very hard but excellent effort before London. Thanks to all organising great event and fellow Poole Runners for their support etc. Date of review: March 21, 2010
In short: WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! In full: This was my third marathon, having done both London and Paris. As many others from my club at Poole Runners had done it before, I kind of had an idea what it was about, so I took it easy to enjoy it. (Much thanks to Hannah, John and Jonny for keeping me company the whole way.)
It was Absolutely Fabulous!!! Scenery, Runners, Joggers, Walkers, Organisation, Tea, Cakes, Hot Cross Buns, Marshalls, Etc were all wonderful.
I WILL DEFINATELY DO THIS AGAIN!!!!!
The hot food at the end was also great - never has jacket spud, beans & sausage, followed by Rice Pud tasted sooooo good.
OK, so we only did 5 & a half hours, but by 'eck didn't we enjoy it.
I cannot think of many races that can better this. Date of review: October 30, 2006
In short: My 2nd half and a 14min pb! Everything was excellent! In full: I echo all that has been written so far. I drove approx 50 miles for this one and would have driven over 100! It was that good! I also had a significant amount of help registering beforehand.(the club sent me an application form as my pc didnt work properly at the time.) The pre and post race stuff was every bit as good as the in race stuff. I was even thanked for coming so far by one of the marshall's - a great encouragement at 10ish miles!! SPOT ON! What date is it next year! Date of review: November 21, 2005
