In short: Beautiful scenery, friendly hosts and GREAT run! In full: Great new start with plenty of room. Perfect for a post run picnic. Good organisation and friendly marshalls - well done Waverley Harriers and Charterhouse. Very beautiful and challenging course, loved it. Some gripes: 1)sort out the congestion after Borough Rd entering the footpath, and on the footpath itself 2) the fastest 5K runner hit congestion getting out of Charterhouse at the water station Date of review: May 20, 2014
In short: A brilliant success!! In full: Dear organisers - you pulled it off, WELL DONE!! I've run quite a few races over the years and I thoroughly enjoyed this local event, it seemed to go well from a runner's point of view. It must have taken some orgainsation to do this first time in, I hope it is a great success in future years. A couple of niggles - there weren't nearly enough bins around the marquees and assembly point, litter went everywhere - you need more wheely bins in place. Good and special features - water stops were perfectly placed; like the chunky medal; plenty of toilets at the start; great support from locals along the way; love the music en route; great to see some elite runners came and ran; finally, we all LOVED the track and stadium finish! This could be a classic in years to come. Date of review: March 10, 2014
In short: Hogs Back Race just got better In full: The improved route means less traffic and an extra hill early on - lovely. A well run race, fabulous scenery and the parking is easier now within Loseley grounds. Well done everyone for making this classic even better! Date of review: December 7, 2012
In short: Fabulous 10K, fantastic atmosphere!! In full: The scenery around Godalming is beautiful and varied - the race starts and finishes in the historic town centre, with river side footpaths and challenging hills up to Hogwarts-style Charterhouse. Organisation was top notch for an inaugural race, could improve a couple of marshal points and water at the end would've been nice, but no biggy as there was bottled drink and food supplied free at the end. Fantastic atmosphere on this race from the spectators and marshals cheering us on. Yes, the goody bag could have been better, but I go to these events for the running not the dubious freebies and landfill. Hope this repeats again next year, it has the makings of a classic local event. Date of review: June 7, 2012
In short: Great course - dubious marshalling In full: The course is a toughie, would be great on a sunny evening but was more demanding thanks to the rain.
OK - good effort from the marshals who were standing in the rain, but this obviously went badly wrong at a couple of junctions because runners were finishing from all directions. I feel sorry for the guy who was winning the race until he was misdirected at the end, only to end up third behind runners who knew the course. Shameful. Date of review: July 10, 2008
In short: Scenic, fun. . . but tough in places In full: Enjoyed this one, good views of Box Hill and the North Downs. Bit of a straggly start, friendly marshalling and well positioned water points. The heat/humidity made it a toughy, no chance of a PB unless your a fell runner. Oh yes, beware trampling kids on this run (and being overtaken by a seven year olds!). Date of review: June 11, 2007
