In short: Beautiful race with unexpected PB potential. Runners never crowded right from the start. Excellent commemmorative technical shirt in the goodie bag.
In full: 2nd year I have run this marathon. The weather was greyer than last year & not such good views of the Loch but the scenery was still great.
I have run a PB both years, this time slashing 12 minutes off my time and in the face of advancing age (60+). You might think looking at the course profile that PBs were unlikely but my experience tells me the opposite. Firstly the first 5 miles is almost all downhill apart from a couple of modest bumps. Secondly there is plenty of room to run right from the start. Finally its pretty cool there in early October so I started at a brisk pace which seemed to have bedded in well by mile 5.
Great, vocal support scattered along the route & outstanding at the end. You're likely to get a name check too.
Everyone should do this run, I'll do it again. Its a great excuse for a week/weekend in the Highlands.

In short: Fantastic race. beautiful scenery despite the rain. Ran a totally unexpected PB & was quite emotional at the end.
