In short: Organisation gets worse
In full: I'm actually rating the 2012 race but couldn't select it in the drop down box. Wakey wakey RW.

This was the fifth time I've done this race since 2004 and the organisation gets shoddier and lazier by the year. Once, one of the blue riband HM's in the south east, now just another half, but just a lot more expensive.

For the entry fee paid, you would expect more than water stations with plastic cups that are pretty hard to drink from except if you are walking. Where was the Lucozade Sport?

Half an hour to collect baggage? Guys, it helps if you store it in numerical order. Kind of makes it easier to find.

Although not the be all and end all, the medals just get cheaper. I had a look at some of the past years ones when I got home and the quality was a lot better.

Sad to see a race like this get so poor. Complacency?

In short: Came for the time, not the scenery.
In full: The start was a lot better than two years ago, with a few other changes to the route, mainly the pleasant addition of the two miles along the waterfront to take the scenery mark up by a point. Second time I've PB'd here so well pleased.

In short: OK, but nothing great. Wouldn't do it again.
In full: Nothing particularly wrong with this event but nothing memorable either. Slightly weird feeling to race this late on a Sunday on a deserted airfield. Price was a bit steep for what you got, compared to similarly priced events.

In short: Course better this year
In full: When I saw the course had been significantly changed I did wonder why. It was, however, a good decision as the narrow section of the towpath was replaced with a section that had two levels, therefore reducing the chance of collisions with cyclists and dog walkers. Felt that the really sharp turn at about 6K could have been avoided with an easier one about 20 yards earlier. My chip time was only a second off my watch time so no problems there for me. Mars Bar at the end was very welcome.

In short: Enjoyable race but not good value for money.
In full: Four years since I did this and time must have erased the memory of those hills especially the one between 8 and 9 miles. Devilishly hot to make things even more difficult. Parking seemed way better this year. They appear to have employed a professional firm to manage it. Maybe that's why they couldn't afford enough toilets. Come on organisers get this right next year. And would a medal that doesn't look like it cost 50p to make and some kind of goody bag be too much to ask for given how much this race costs.

In short: Way too hot !
In full: Was hoping to sub 45 for the first time but two things put paid to that. Firstly the heat. It was 22 degrees by the time the race started and, secondly a suicidal first two kilometres by me. What was I thinking !!!!
