In short: Traffic free, challenging without being sadistic and all the hard work is in the first 2/3rds of the course

In short: Well organised, great crowds.
In full: I did this as part of my London warm-up and from that perspective it was a sucessful day out. Like others I found runners having started too far forward a problem; it wasn't until after we came out of the town centre that I felt comfortable with the pace of those running around me.

The organisation was efficient and the facilities more than adequate, both around the Madjeski and along the route and the support along the couse was excellent.

And although the queues off the M4 were a pain coming into the race I was pleasantly suprised how quickly I was able to get away afterwards.

In short: Everything a race should be!
In full: Hard but enjoyable, great atmosphere, super Race HQ set up for a race of its size. I did this race as a marathon warm-up but it just might become the focal point of my winter training in years to come.

In short: Ronseal
In full: This was an unpretentious no-frills proper road race, geared towards the serious runner (county championship incorporated) to which a few slower types such as myself were able to tag along.

Well organised and marshalled with good facilities at Race HQ.

In short: One of the best finishing strech of any race I've done.
In full: That view as you come over the crest of the last rise of the switchback and can see your way to the line - all downhill - never fails to inspire.

I agree that the start could be improved - wouldn't it be possible to start the race on the service road inside the racecourse?

In short: A course with a sting in its tail!
In full: A decent, well attended event and one to which I will definitely want to return older but wiser, having been caught out by the succession of climbs in the latter stages.

There was no shortage of marshalls, who did their job well unlike the numpty with the hosepipe at the second water station who didn't seem to understand the words "not for me thanks".

In short: This is now one of my must-do races
In full: At the third time of asking I felt I'd got to grips with this race, the climbs didn't feel as tough and the descents seemed to go on a bit longer than I'd remembered.

And for the first time there were still some Mars bars left when I finished!

In short: A great way to start 2008
In full: The third time I'd done this. If anything, it seemed better run than before. The course is quite hilly but the the gradients aren't too severe.
