In short: Really enjoyable and fast course
In full: I really enjoyed this Race, it was the 5th time I've entered, but the first time that I've actually managed to get there.

The only thing I would change is the Start ~ that road is too narrow for that amount of runners, also with people having to go through the start to get to their "timing pen" they were just stopping by the Start line, so there were an awful lot of slow runners too close to the start. I was surprised to only see 1 guy take a fall...

In short: Too expensive for what it was, course was poor
In full: I was hoping for a good event, but was disappointed. Start far too narrow and 90 degree bend within 50m of start!!!!! Course was boring and not the fast and flat that I had been led to believe, support on the course was very limited and no atmosphere at all. Road surface in the parks was sub standard, and what was the underpass and ramps all about???? Passing over to the waterfront was overgrown and not cut back. Loads of corner cutting and running over traffic islands. Best bit was our hotel overlooked the Start/Finish. Very disappointed and won't be back.

In short: Not up to scratch - one to miss
In full: Where do I start, perhaps with the most important issue!! The course was short, we missed out a section in Penarth Marina which I worked out to leave us about 0.12 mile short, if you can't get the distance right then the rest is a waste of time!! The mile markers were poor, missed a load of them. Loads of corner cutting going on and the marshals didn't seem to care, why should they they were being paid to be there. Movement away from the finish was a mess, no control. Didn't really experience too much of an issue at the start but can imagine that it was manic behind, especially when reaching the cycle path between Bute Park and Tesco.
How can they justify charging the same as London Marathon when they can't get the basics right. I will certainly be boycotting this one from now on, there seems to be major issues every year.

In short: Superb FREE event open to ALL abilities. Go on give it a go.
In full: Very friendly event open to ALL. It would be nice to have TRUE ratings from people who have actually done the event, unlike James Barry 2 who has never done it. My question would be, What have you based your ratings on?

In full: Great and friendly atmosphere, very well organised. Great mixture underfoot. Nice to get back onto some of my old training ground.

In short: Possibly the worst organised race in Wales
In full: The start seemed more like a battle ground with slower runs far to close the the front. Marshals were clueless and had no idea about running and often seemed uninterested. Course poorly marked which allowed spectators to go into the road infront of the runners. The leaders of the Marathon were bloked by the tail end of the Half Marathon, and nobody seemed to know when the leaders were approaching. The faster Marathon runners had problems towards the end coming along Westgate Street and through the Stadium to finish. Any decent runner who has any sense would stay away from this race, unless they are split and run on seperate days - I would suggest the Half in March ready for London and then the Marathon as a growing Autumn Marathon
