In short: Will be a great race in years to come In full: Really enjoyed the first MHM and as it is local I will certainly be back. The overlapping start problem didn't affect me very much, but if this race gets more popular a different start will be needed. Otherwise everything was very smooth. Parking so close to the start made it really easy. I picked up my number this morning and it took no time all. The marshalls were great and the locals fantastic. Great to see so many people out on the streets offering sweets etc. I am sure I could smell bacon rolls as I passed one small group!
My only serious complaint is the distance. The course was fractionally short, which would be a real shame for those chasing PBs. Sometimes it doesn't matter if the distance is correct but on a fast flat course it has to be right.
Well done to Purple Patch for a good first race - see you next year. Date of review: September 4, 2011

In short: There is no better way to spend an afternoon... In full: Third time I have done this race and slowest time yet. Thank goodness the rain held off during the race or it would have been very tricky going. I fell three times in first couple of miles, once when the guy behing me slipped on the stepping stones and I ended up in the river. Then I tripped going up the first set of steps before completely wiping out on the fast downhill section shortly after. All part of the fun!
This really is a fantastic race - great atmosphere, excellent organisation, and a real sense of satisfaction. Thanks to all the marshalls for their encouragement, they are a great bunch.
I will be back next year, of course. Date of review: June 19, 2011

In short: Expensive for what it is In full: 2nd time I have done this race. I live locally so know the venue well. No complaints about the course or organisation, both excellent. But at £25 it is too expensive. If the organisers want to know why so few enter, look no further than the price. For £25 I would expect a decent goodie bag and medal, but all we got was a small blank medal with no engraving at all. Very poor.

In short: Fantastic! In full: Thank you Rob for another fantastic event today. Organisation was excellent, great marshalls, good weather and lots of lovely cake at the end.
Second time I have run the Munro and I knocked 6 mins off last year's time, so am very chuffed. I kept telling myself to hold back in the first half and it worked. I dragged myself up the steps at the end and felt great at the top. Then just as I was about to run down the hill to the finish my right calf cramped up really badly. Thanks to the runner who offered to stop and help. I managed to stretch it out and hobble home. My kids ran down the hill with me at the end which was great.
Well done to everyone who took part today and thanks to the marshalls and everyone handing out sweets, it really helped.

In short: Well organised, nice course, a really good race In full: Third time I have done this race. The field is quite small, around 200, and there is always a good atmosphere especially around the 5k and 9k points with lots of spectators. First 5k is pretty challenging but after that it is flat so good times are possible. £10 to enter makes it a bargain. Many thanks. Date of review: May 16, 2010

In short: Excellent organisation and great for a PB In full: 4th time I have done this. The organisation is excellent, which it should be for the 57th running! Fast, flat course, a bit congested in places but not really a problem. Yes, it is clubby but great to do a race with a high quality field where you get the chance to see the leaders going past. Lots of marshalls and drink stations. Also, fastest results service I have ever known! I will be back. Date of review: April 2, 2010

In short: Great atmosphere and organisation, but too many runners for the course In full: Third time I have done this race. Conditions were perfect for fast times today and the crowd support was terrfic, particularly in Reading town centre. Unfortunately the course is just too tight for such a large race. The congestion at the beginning is to be expected but other sections are too narrow, especially the stretch between mile 8 and 9. Having to dodge and weave at that stage is disappointing - are there no wider roads in Reading? Stadium finish, goody bag and medal partly make up for it. Not my favourite race, but I'll be back.
