In short: Very tough and hilly, however amazing atmosphere and will do again! In full: So much for Kent being the flat Garden of England! Very hilly, much more than I was antisipating, especially the climb at about 10 - 11 miles which felt like scaling Everest! (Allthough I only have myself to blame for not doing any homework before hand)
However, the scenery was amazing and support through the villages enroute was fantastic. The approach to the finish offered an absolutely stunning view of Canterbury Cathedral which I will always remember.
Everybody was really friendly and I would love to do this race again (With a bit more training behind me!) Date of review: August 28, 2012
In short: Organised Chaos In full: I have to be honest and say it was the worst organised event I have ever experienced.
It was absolute chaos from the start as nobody (including all the Marshalls) were aware of the start time of the race.
Also the Marshalling and sign posts along the route were non existant at certain key points along the route. This resulted in a number of runners taking a wrong turn at 2.5 miles into the race. Also water stations were late setting up or not present at certain points.
In the end the race was meaningless as a number of runners had run different distances.
However, I thought the princple of the race for charity and Waltham Forest Borough was an excellent idea. Obviously, a number of lessons need to be learnt to ensure that the event is better managed next year.
I am prepared to give it one last chance as I like to support local events. Date of review: March 28, 2010
