In short: Excellent race, well organised. Great for both experienced and new runners. In full: Organisation was excellent as we have come to expect from the Chester 1/2 and marathon organsiers. Race course start and city centre finish really make this race. Date of review: May 21, 2013

In short: Special race, different from your average road marathon In full: Weather was as good as you could expect. The usual cliche about a marathon being 20 mile warm up then 6 miles of struggle doesn't really do Snowdonia marathon justice. After 21 miles, the last 5 are brutal, with 3 up then no let up on the last 2 down because it's so steep. No frills event, but organisation and support were excellent. Liked the child at around half way with a huge tray of jelly babies - sorted by colour! Date of review: October 29, 2012

In short: Faultless In full: Organisation for this race is spot on. If you live in the area, there are training sessions with the organisers you can go along to, which shows their commitment to the event. The racecourse is a great venue for the start and finish, and so close to the centre of Chester to make accomodation and restaurant options easy, and great for non running family members to spend a couple of hours. Bag collection was something else - seemed to have a spotter who picks out your number as you approach so it's sitting on the counter for when you've walked the 50 metres to the collection point (OK, in my case, this gives them at least 5 mins to identify your bag) Date of review: October 9, 2012

In short: Good effort to get a Manchester marathon going again. Serious deficiences in organistion, particularly the baggage. Made worse by weather that you might not see again at a Manchester marathon for 20 years Date of review: May 1, 2012

In short: Excellent organisation, great City location and fantastic course and support In full: The organisation of this race was excellent throughout. Chester is a great city to host a marathon, so well done to Chris and Andy who organised the event. I hope this becomes a regular fixture on the marathon calendar. The course is not completely flat, but what made it testing was the short hill at mile 24, which inevitably hurts. Convenient having parking on the racecourse so close to the start and finish, with slight drawback of build up of cars getting in and out. Having the finish on the racecourse gives lots of opportunities for spectators to feel part of the event. Overall, will definitely be back to do it again. Date of review: October 12, 2011

In short: Excellent organisation, a great race In full: I've done this race a few times now, and the organisation is so smooth you risk taking it for granted. With the bad weather over the last few weeks, the organisers were great at keeping the website up to date with their latest thinking. A scenic race, which if you can hold things together on the hills during miles 8 to 11 allows you to pick up time for the last 2 miles, mainly downhill. Date of review: January 18, 2010

In short: A low key event, but well organised and a decent course In full: I'd not done this event before, but entered on the day, which was straightforward. Nothing much by way of goodies (T-shirt was only if you entered in advance). Overall, well organised and a decent course. The final hill is tough, but short. Not the quickest course if you want a PB, but there are enough competitors to drag you round to get a good time. Would definitely do it again. Date of review: October 12, 2009
