In short: A nice race through my home town & parks
In full: A better route than last year taking in both sides of the river in. Just the one killer hill this time. The start/finish area is excellent. Thanks to the guy who pushed me all the way in a sprint finish. (Don't think I've run that fast since school!!!)

In short: Fantastic. Best race of the year so far.
In full: Stunning scenery. Fantastic weather. Run along country lanes. A fair number of small hills, but the breathtaking views, made them feel like the size of molehills!. Almost the perfect race. If the road could be closed this would clinch it. The large fields for parking and also the finishing area of the race made it ideal. Nice pub too. I'll be back later in the year for the half marathon - don't think I've got the legs for the full marathon.

In short: What tee shirts ? Did I miss something ?
In full: A bit hit and miss. Not a very interesting route. Could we not have run around the park ? I always think a venue which has a track start & finish improves a race though. Personally I thought the marshalls & markers were fine, but the water station needed a few more helpers. Also I enjoyed the novelty of the police being helpful ! - in holding back the traffic. Good job the weather was fine as this made the race just about respectable.

In short: A doughnut never tasted so good.
In full: Not sure which were hardest - the uphills or the downhills ? Not very steep or long, just continuously doing one or the other, with very little flat bits. Slate coaster was different - better than a boring medal ! Serious runners - bring your GPS watch, as the only marker is for the last mile. Turn up at least one hour in advance, or you'll find parking difficult. Nice place for you to turn up early to.

In short: 4.5 miles in under 25 mins !
In full: A little bit disappointed with this race. The one layer of hay looked a bit sad for an obstacle. The two layers were better. So much better that I fell head first over the last but one. Not sure for the exact reason for the short course. Could we not have done four laps ? As this was a new race you expect hiccups. Hopefully these will be ironed out and improved on next year. Overall I think the race has potential to become a decent event.

In short: If you want a PB then start right at the front, otherwise you'll get held up with the crowds for the first mile. Very flat, very fast, plenty of water stations. Crowds in last mile spur you on. Rather have a stick of rock than a medal next year !

In short: PB Potential. Traffic free but not people free. Sunny weather brought out the hordes for you to dodge. The large necked bottle of water at halfway was a lot better than the small plastic cups that you usually get. Choccies & magazines were nice.

In short: The most challenging race I have done so far. Plenty of crowd support to get you to the top. Plenty of gravity to get you back down too !
