In short: Good first 5k
In full: I felt a bit daunted turning up at my first 5k, particularly not being a club runner, but there was a good crowd at the end to cheer me on!!! Really well organised, good atmosphere, good venue, not sure whether it was my effort that increased my heart rate or the spiral bridge (twice) when I hate heights and road bridges?!! Good race for first timers and definitely recommended

In short: Worth it for the goody bag!
In full: The first Calne 10 ish k was a well organised race with plenty of marshalls, some of whom didn't quite understand they are meant to point you in the right direction! A damp start meant the start and finish point of the local school palying field left it a bit claggy/slippery in places. Being run by Calne Leisure it meant parking, changing and showers were not a problem. Predominantly run by club runners and locals who run the route, but there were a few unoffiliated runners taking part. Worth doing as a local race but the scenery wasn't too inspiring - an out and back course taking you around the playing field through housing estate and then onto roads. Being a girly girl though the bar of chocolate and hair care products, worth more than my entry fee, will probably entice me back next year!

In short: There's more to Swindon than roundabouts!
In full: The only fault with this half marathon is if you rely on them supplying water you'll be dehydrated! There's never enough water to please everyone, but hey that's what a camelbak's for. Definitely seemed to be more marshalls this year and the addition of toilets around the course. Can't say if there was more support this year of if it's just because I was quicker there were more people still hanging around! Every year it's the same bits of the course that get me - the hill around the 4 mile point (over the bridge), the horrid downhill then sharp uphill turn around the 9 mile point and the Marlborough Road seems way longer on the way back in than it ever did on the way out - but I still sign up again every year!!!! A lovely challenging run, well supported and the organisation and facilities improve year on year. Sign me up for 2009.....

In short: Superb in the sunshine
In full: This is my 2nd 10k, and 2nd Bowood race, and despite not being able to train much this years race was much better than last year. The weather was warm, without being overly hot, and the event seemed better arranged with parking facilities this year. The only complaint was the race starting a bit late, but the warm-up was better than last year also. The extra touches like the samba band part way round the course added to the fun of the day. Highly recommended race, will definitely be signing up for it again next year.
