In short: If that was the less hilly version I am pleased I did not run the old course.
In full: Shocking weather for the whole time of the race. The marshalls standing out in this weather were brilliant. The encouragement they gave all the runners around me was excellent. Found the long hill up to the finish very hard work especially as I was shattered.
Loved eating the pudding on Xmas day certainly a big attraction to do it again next year.

In short: race with great potential
In full: This race has many great things going for it. Excellent flat course which has PB potential. Very well supported by crowds and a large running field. Also the attractions of the cathedral and the castle finish.
When the organisers sort out the start and finish problems it will attract even more people I am sure.
This is the 2nd time I have run this race the first time being a few years ago. The organistaion at the start and finish have deteriorated in that time.

In short: lovely undulating course with a bit of rough thrown in
In full: I had a disaster doing this race. I had read the forum reviews before doing the race so was aware of the X country bit. However I still managed to cock it up. Loved it when it was snowing.
The marshalls were great and the support staff at the venue were brilliant.
I will run this next year and forget the PB potential and enjoy the rest of the organisation. I also agree the cup of tea at the end is fantastic.

In short: A fantastic race, big field, great scenery.
In full: Lots of small undulations in the race. Starts in worksop and quickly goes into Clumber park. For me the only bad bit was the straight lane by the side of the golf course but only because I had to run it breathing petrol fumes. (I think I was knackered by then so lost my sense of humour). It was great that shortly after that you hit the down hill section to the finish.
I plan to do this race as many years as I can.

In short: 1st ever race therefore I loved it.
In full: I write this 7 months after having done the race and 2 half marathons later. I loved this race it is in the countryside with 1 horrible hill to climb if memory serves me right at about 3.5 miles. You will not have crowds to support you as the start and finish is about 1 mile from the town of Newark. However plenty of parking and facilities at the Rugby club and friends and family can comfortably wait there whilst you are running. Roll on 2005.
