In short: Nice run. Possibly rethink of the course where its always boggy along the Thames
In full: A nice run. Good race village before and after race. Organised well. Few last min adjustments due to weather which couldnt be avoided.

In short: This is a fun run, not a race
In full: Nike had the chance to make this such a good event...but theyve failed.
Mass start for 20,000 runners was never going to work, bag area without a cover was a basic mistake, marshals that knew nothing about where things were was fustrating, i didnt receive a goodie bag, apparently they ran out of medals..and now it turns out that my timing chip didnt work...

In short: Twists and Turns and overgrown grass
In full: Didnt like the course - not one bit. It twisted and turned, went over overgrown grass, which in parts almost turned into a trail run. It was such a boring course too. Did the first lap, hated it so much that I couldnt be bothered to do it again so cut my 10k into a 5k run. Wont be back. Ever

In short: Has this race become too big for the roads it is run on?
In full: A great race but I fear it has got too popular and the roads are now far too congested. More use of the whole road rather than one side of it is needed in future.

Other than that, a great day out

In short: My thrd and final marathon - out on a high!
In full: What an amazing day. Decided this would be my last marathon for a long time due to the strain the training has on my knees. Got a new PB..what a way to retire. 3h36mins!!!

In short: One of the best races in the year
In full: This is a great, well organised event. The problems with exiting the carpark have been improved. The only thing this race needs is the starting pens to have clear estimated finish-time bandings as it was very hard to fight through the crowds in front of you that were running at a lot slower pace from the start of the race

In short: I love this event
In full: Yes, it is an expensive race to enter, but the route is amazing. Well manned water stations, clear signage and great marshalling. I will definately be back!

In short: What 'beat'?
In full: Poorly organised. Delayed start meant waiting around in the cold. Race finally started 45mins late with the slower pens crossing the start line 90mins late. Where was the motivation music? A man with a speaker playing out the back of his transit van really wasnt worth getting up for on a cold sunday morning. The 'run to the beat' concept is a gimmick. There are plenty of better organised and cheaper half marathons out there. I did the race in 2008 and it was just the same, they have not learnt from their mistakes. Not impressed.

In short: Is this race now over subscribed?
In full: This is the third time I've done this race. Have always enjoyed it but thought this year there were too many people on the course. I think in future this event needs starting pens to avoid the faster and slower runners being mixed up at the start line making it very congested and hard to get to your pace. I only managed to get to my pace in the second lap, by which point I had lost too much time. Still, I got a new pb but know I could have finished this race a lot quicker.

In short: Well organised, nice course
In full: Well organised event. I agree with some of the other runners in that running along the dual carriageway needs more entertainment..or just something other than tarmac and concrete to look at! I'd definately do this one again!
