In short: Brilliant atmosphere In full: I agree with all the other comments re. Eccleshall road. They should bottle the support on that street it made such a difference, especially in the baking hot weather. The extra water stations were a godsend and I actually don't mind cups of water (sorry). However, I agree with all the comments re. the increased numbers. I ran the race in 2004 and it was far more enjoyable and relaxed at the beginning and end. I think the race organisers could have organised an outlet selling gels, energy drinks at the start. I forgot my jelly babies and really suffered towards the end. Having heard good reports about Leeds two weeks prior, I might give that one a go next year. Date of review: May 28, 2012

In short: Great for the atmosphere, not so good for the running In full: This was my fourth GNR and as I'm 17 weeks pregnant, I wanted to take it easy - but not that easy! The extra competitors really made a difference and it was impossible to stretch your legs. And don't mention the new 'improved' family reunion area - unless you are about 7 foot tall you couldn't find your friends. Next year I'll be downsizing. Date of review: October 6, 2008

In short: Very Tough In full: This was my second attempt at this race and having woke up feeling paricularly under the weather but still hoping for a pb I really went for it. Did I suffer! The race is superby organised but I was extremely disappointed that there was no medal this year and the same goody bag! Date of review: January 15, 2006

In short: PB race so i'm not complaining (too much)! In full: This was a thoroughly enjoyable race, let down somewhat by the difficulties at the start. I couldn't find the time markers so just hung around the back which on this occasion didn't leave me stuck behind any walkers. Didn't see the water station at 5k but I was taking it too seriously at that point. The end was fantastic but what's with the hill coming up to the Headrow, that's just harsh! The medal was very disappointing and no goody bag!! I'll be back next year and I will break 50 minutes this time.

In short: It was worth it!! But where were the loos?? In full: I woke up with the beginnings of a cold and so was not expecting much for my first time. I didn't do the warm up and neither did anyone around me in the 10 min mile one, that was disappointing but we were crammed in so tight that losing our place was not an option. The atmosphere was amazing, there could have been more water stations early on and whilst all the guys were relieving themselves in the bushes, the ladies had to wait for one of the scarce toilets, not on guys"" Date of review: September 19, 2005
