In short: Beautiful morning @Longleat In full: Yes there are some hills & 'undulating' is prob correct it all depends on what you're used to & where you train - don't blame 2:09! It's a chance to race in beautiful countryside, great for spectators (if they want to watch!, I had two 10ys olds who I could leave in safety for once but they never saw any runners!). Could 2:09 ask Longleat to open their cafe as it would give lots of spectators somewhere warm to sit & runners get some 'proper' food, burger van's never ideal. Date of review: February 11, 2008
In short: Needs to step up a gear In full: Billed as a big race incl GB athletes it is let down by organisation which seems to lack year after year. Aside from all comments to date, start was v.poor blue zone 'time band' was way too wide (1hr-1hr.45mins)& once in it there were many there with wrong colour. Watching at end the marshalls seemed unwilling to stop spectators walking all over the course & I saw many runners unsettled by these people. Finally to the lady & son squirting their water pistols at runners faces - don't! most being hit were more 'shocked' by the unexpected! Date of review: September 10, 2007
In short: Mildly undulating, PB potential In full: Finding venue proved difficult from M4 due to roadworks. Shame about rain for spectators but good conditions for running, it undulates mildly (no real hills) so good for fast times. Running in road was not traffic free so little hairy & most hopped onto pavement which is not always best to 'race' on. Date of review: May 14, 2007
In short: Well organised & spectator friendly In full: Plenty of parking & traffic (& stig) free race track for running! Nice for spectators to see you twice & kids don't need to be tethered at a roadside getting bored. Well organised & BEST loos! However, although flat & PB potential it's terribly boring to run. In short: Excellent support In full: Being local I know that you do best to use the City cafes etc for toilet before race, again this year I noted everyone in Runners Village faced horrendous wait for loos (& baggage collection at end), yet throughout Bath there are plenty of cafes & hence clean toilets. We were called to start half an hour before start so lots of us waiting long time & getting cold, but if it means people are in their CORRECT pens & race starts on time so beit.
However, it has to be said the atmosphere & crowd support is tremendous, well done Bath. It really makes it worthwhile. It gets better each year. Date of review: March 26, 2007
In short: Running round local estate & roads not closed so be careful In full: Couple of cars dangerously near & we all gravitated to pavement. Finish banner/gantry wasn't the finish! Date of review: March 19, 2007
In short: Nice traffic free run In full: Problems with traffic in area (I was on M1) meant start was delayed, but marshalls I spoke to were well informed. Nice to be able to use cafe before start unlike Longleat when it was shut! Mind you don't know of any races where you can get a 'proper' caffeine hit to get you started! Date of review: March 5, 2007
