In short: Had a nightmare but the crowds would draw me back
In full: Like a lot of people I have mixed feelings about this race. I had hoped for a p.b. but it ended up a p.w. My training had gone pretty well but for a combination of what seemed to be various reasons it just wasn't my day. I have only ever started from the blue start so can't comment on the red start but I agree that it is just not strict enough. I did 18 minutes for the first two miles (when it should have been 16 minutes) purely down to congestion and people clearly being in the wrong pens. There are so many pluses to be had from the race though and it's special for me as the start is a ten minute walk from my house which means I got to see lot's of familiar faces on the way. Spraying Gordon Ramsay with water at 13 miles was a highlight (he took it well) but it went downhill for me not long after (and him by the sounds of it but a least I was lucky enough to finish). I would do London again but wouldn't aim for a p.b. On to the next!

In short: I like this race because it means coming home & it has a stadium finish. They need to get the mile markings right in future, mile six was the longest of my life.
