In short: Shame about the weather which was it the organisers fault. This affected times. And if it had been better would have enhanced the scenery. In full: Yes, I agree with previous comments re diversion to right just after start. Apparently this was because of an obstacle "gate" added after course confirmed and meant race could not start wher intended, further back. However, the extrat distance should have been added at turn round point (2.5k). As it was it caused considerable tail bak of runners.
Overall intentions were good and I would recommend this very low key race for a PB. Date of review: November 7, 2014
In full: I agree with comments reported so far. The race start/finish area needs attention, especially where queues formed (collecting race numbers) from inside scout hut to where children were finishing their race. Water was hard to see at end - i missed it. No real problems for myself with marshalling. Really good announcer made all finishers feel special. Date of review: July 28, 2014
In short: Have down this many years. However, sadly this year some results, despite being quicker than previous years were wrong and website failed to show results as promised same day. Date of review: May 7, 2014
In short: It was what the can said "The flattest Marathon in UK" In full: I cannot complain except since i got good for age London time. Crowd support was fantastic, especially with name calling. Made me feel i knew every body out there. They kept me going.
Course was flat, liked the dog loops.
Water - did not like the pouches, you either got nothing, a dribble or? Could not open top. I did not see isotonic or gels as advertised and only saw blocs at last stop (i was given my own gel by husband on route). 7-9m water station we came to a halt - too narrow.
Car park a fiasco, the marshall did not let us through for stadium pre booked place, had to go miles out of way following directions.
Having said all of that, i would be back since it was a "special race" Date of review: April 7, 2014
In short: excellant and very well organised. In full: For the first race, really well done. Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Could not quite believe how 5000 runners fitted into start. Maybe think about making this area bigger next year. This would help all, the very elite and the slower runners.
Massive number of loos - well done.
Many cheerful marshals in village and one route.
Really great atmosphere.
When number arrived in post i initial thought is that all? Just number, small card with village map on and headgear. However, lots of emailed information sent out regularly. App was really good and even the facility to download ay Village.
A tad expensive. Despite no goody bag at end i think some forgot we did get a headband in race pack.
Will definitely be back next year. This one has great potential to be one of the better bests. Date of review: March 10, 2014
