In short: Loads of fun runners, and well organised, but poor medal
In full: The course is a fast down hill start (5.40 pace is easy to do), followed by undulations. Mile 8 is a long up hill, but not steep. The final 3 miles are a gradual up hill with a little down hill before the final hill and then 0.1 mile finish down hill (did that at 5.23 pace!!!)
This a well orgainised race, and the locals are very friendly!! there is load of water, loads of support and loads of traffic in parts, but fortunately this year drivers seemed much more relaxed and not speeding.
I have done the race around 10 times and enjoy it, but each year it gets more expensive. The Church at the start does free tea and cakes afterwards, but got clever to us popping into to use the loo just before the start, shame as the paper was so soft. It would be nice if they could give out a better medal, and maybe a t-shirt rather than buying it for £9, some other races with lower race fees give them out for free. Maybe next year

In short: Flat, fast and fun
In full: My first road race of 2010. Well organised, fast, the start is a bit tricky, but after that is was fine. The marshals were good, nearly every one cheered, well manned water stations with bottle water. Nice t-shirt and medal, great hall, great tea - all good races must have a good cuppa at the end served by lovely people, and they managed this really well. Great to have prizes for all Vet categories in 5 year age groups. Even the weather was not too bad. Be back next year to bash the country roads.

In short: Ah mud, but come on next year letrs have snow
In full: The course was challenging over the downs, with a couple of slippy bits and so water jumps!! I love this race and achieved a 15 miles PB. the marshalls are great - love the pink hats. One of the best T-shirts, cuppa's and facilities. Toilets are a bit sparse, but the showers were hot and very welcome. Races dont get any better than this, and a great London training session. Many thanks Benfleet, you Guys certainly satify my lust for mud, hills and fun fun fun

In short: Great Race one to do before you die!!
In full: This race is great, the organisation is perfect. The organisation is brilliant. The tea and cakes in the school hall was brilliant - best cup of tea ward (second to the Benfleet 15 as i got a free top-up there)
nice t-shirt and lovely fun presentation. Next year the V40 will go to me and not that 56year old terminator!! I wish!

In short: Marshalling this race is fun
In full: OK so i didn't run today, but i did marshal at 2k and at 150m from the end. Thanks for all the smiles and for turning up today and making standing in the wind and rain a real pleasure. See you all next year - we have have ordered tropical weather with sunshine and blue skies, no wind. OK so it will probably rain and be windy, but that makes it all the better.
Doesn't it???

Yes i hear you cry!

In short: Flat fast course
In full: Just love my new Beaney hat, I won a spot prize of 2 pairs of excellent Nike socks, the marshalls were great, bottles of water with a lid during the race. Just wish I was fitter as I am sure I would have broken my PB!

In short: Benfleet 15 great race - muddy, wet, slippy, great marshalls,
In full: This has to be one of those races to do before you die. It's hard, well not really, if you go off at a sensible pace then it is fun. I enjoyed running through the mud, puddles, running along the downs and just having a good chat with my team mates. Sorry to the Benfleet chaps for splashing them, but we Billericay Boys don't mind a bit of water!! Great race, brilliant organisation, love this years water features, and the t-shirt - well one of the best I have got from a race. Beginners who have done some distance runs will enjoy this change from pounding the roads. But don't worry about PB's this is not a fast course if the weather is bad! Can the Orion 15 beat it for mud..... can't wait to find out, bring it on. Thanks to all from Benfleet who turned out to help and make it a brilliant day. See you next year. Oh and thanks to the ladies who made a very nice tea for me before the race, and superb coffee after the race. The showers were hot and plentiful and not the usual trickle. 14 out of 10

In short: Great race, well organised, flat, great supporters,
In full: My first running of this marathon, and my goal was to not walk. and i din't walk. The course is flat, yes there are a few inclines and thus some declines (other than my running form) Nice friendly people and a cuppa at the end was great. And everyone was very supportive and friendly.

This is better than the big city marathons as there are enough people to make a great atmosphere but not too many to make you fell like a number.

I missed the first cut of numbers but got put on the waiting list - what a great idea, and i got 999 so had some extra support from people on the course - lets be having you, etc.....
