In short: Enjoyed excellent conditions today
In full: Nice to get out after the snow and rain. As always a well organised race, marshalls were able to balance the needs of the runners with the (sometimes impatient) local traffic. Chip timing was a good additional feature this time (although not seen the results at the time of writing !)

In short: A magnificant setting for a race, historic Winchester, got a PB....
In full: .... but it was my first 5k ! Well organised on the evening although some pre-entrants had not received their numbers. Advice to newcomers in fact all runners, run one circuit beforehand to warm up and especially to note the locations of bollards, tight corners, pavements, different surfaces etc.
Anyone know where the results have been posted ?

In short: Enjoyable 10k, very well marshalled.
In full: I dont know how much effort goes into organising a road race, but I have to say I am always very impressed by the Lordshill team, the officials are very welcoming and helpful, 2009 was no exception, my thanks to all involved and for the encouragement from the marshalls on the route.

In short: Thoroughly enjoyable undulating course, some aspects of organisation relating to drinks could have been bettere
In full: A spring like morning meant conditions were ideal, the hills were challenging but not too hard, undulating descibes it well. It must take a lot of personal time and effort to organise a race for circa 1000 runners in a busy city like Winchester, so thanks to the race director and team for putting it on. One main complaint which I am sure can be addressed for next time, there was no readily available water at the station around the 6k mark. Options were either stop and queue for it, or forget about it completely, not sure if this was a general observation of just bad timing on my part (I was somewhere in the middle of the field). At the end of the race, congestion meant it took a few munites to get to the water table there as well. One other observation, I had some very strange split times, making me a little suspicious of the placement of some of the km markers. Lets finish on a positive note, I always enjoy the Winchester races, the runners and crowds are very supportive and the Leisure centre provides a good base for baggage and all required facilities.

In short: Very friendly atmosphere, not taken too seriously
In full: This is always a pleasant race to start the new year, not too challenging but enough to blow away the Christmas excesses. I really hope the authorities are able to sort the bureaucracy and keep this as a true road race. If it was to stay within the confines of the inductrial estate as has been muted, it would die very quickly. Thanks to the organisers today for all their efforts.

In full: Having done it three times now I personally rate the Eastleigh 10k as one of my favourite runs. It is well organised with good facilities at Fleming Park and the opportunity for good times. This year the chip timer and the fruit cake were welcome additional touches, thanks to Dave Blackman (Littlefield Crescent neighbour) and Southampton running club for a really well organised event despite unpleasant weather.

In short: Well organised and challenging 10k run
In full: Great weather conditions today. Moving the start from the football stadium to the park was an improvement this year reducing congestion. Generally very well organised, although the two guys at the water stop seemed to have their work cut out maintaining filled cups of water for the passing runners. A comment on value, I am not sure who benefits from the proceeds of this and the other Hampshire Chronicle & Concept sports races. For the entrance fee finishers receive a rather poor quality medal and no other goodies, hence my low score on the value question.

In short: Pleasant off-road run, well organised.
In full: Shame about the fog. The course was well planned, a nice mix of mild undulations and parkland tracks wide enough to cope with the field. Good timing to be able to run just after Christmas and shake off the excesses.

In short: Seasonal fun on a rather unusual off road course
In full: I believe this was the first time this event has taken place. The venue, Fairthorn Manor, is a rather antiquated and run down outdoors activity centre and YMCA. The run itself was well organised by VOTWO, but some inaccuracies from the advertisement. We did not get a goody bag, which made the £14 price seem expensive. The distance planned as 12k was about 10.7k of which about 6k was spent zigzagging over a rather uneven field. On the positive side, it was nice to be accompanied by Christmas songs in the field, and the Chrismas pudding and coffee afterwards was very welcome.

In short: Great Occasion, shame about the weather
In full: Loved every minute of it, interesting route on the flat makes for good times, although this year, running the last two miles into the strong wind and rain certainly tested the majority of runners. Looking forward already to next year.
