In short: Excellent race all round. In full: Water bottles, amazing course (loved that windy single track section through the forest and back), well marshalled, great race base, quality tech. tee shirts, very well organised. Will be back next year. Date of review: August 13, 2012
In short: Fantastic and brutal XC race. Amazing scenery. Well marshalled. In full: This is the third Cross Country (XC) race I have done this year. The ‘Hard Way Round the Rock’ makes Pewsey’s Terminator seem like a dull walk in a not so lumpy park but is right up there with Seaton’s amazing Grizzly in regard to scenery, views, brutal climbs & descents.
A huge thanks to RMPAC for putting on a well organised event.
The Hard Way Round the Rock really does deserve a much bigger entry in my opinion as it has to be one of the best multi terrain races in the South. Date of review: May 20, 2012
In short: Urban & rural town half. Well supported. In full: Some good support around the town. Fast first 6 miles mostly downhill. Slow 2nd half of race due to gradual incline most of the way back in. Also a lot of pavement hopping required so not the quickest of courses. Good start and finish location. In short: Superb In full: By far the toughest, most scenic, enjoyable run race I have ever done (...and I have done hundreds). Huge thanks to Axe Valley Runners and the people of Seaton & SE Devon for putting on an amazing event. I will definately be back in 2013. Date of review: March 29, 2012
In short: "8 miles of outrageous XC running fun", just like it said on the flier! In full: Up hills, down hills, streams, bogs, rope swings, a kamikaze slide, more hills, one with ropes to help pull yourself up with, mud, a fantastic spectators area, a crawl net, some strange hay arrangement to clamber over, and the Votwo wall!
An excellent race both for spectators and us mad enough to take part.
