In short: Fantastic day - scenic, flat-ish course, good atmosphere In full: For a first-time marathoner, this was a fantastic day. I found the course fast, and not crowded - I could run right from the start, and the route of the first couple of miles in Edinburgh was beautiful.
Marshalls and drinks stations were great, as was the support along the route. Plenty of shuttle buses for the return journey. The medal is really good quality.
Only suggestions for improvements - the expo location and content (no wait for numbers but by post would be better), the half-way timing mat was before the 13-mile marker, and the finish area was far too cramped, with queues to get out to the reunion area.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend it. Date of review: May 28, 2008
