In short: Truly special place In full: After my second 10in10 (and 22nd outing round the Lake) I kind of know the course pretty well now! It's certainly tough in parts, and the traffic can be hairy if you're not used to it, but it is a great race. My fastest day this year was only 11 minutes outside my new PB (on the much flatter Brighton course) so a fast time is not impossible.
I love Brathay and the marathon. It's certainly a race I'd recommend to anyone who fancies a bit of a challenge. Date of review: May 26, 2013
In short: I left my heart in the Lakes.. In full: As one of this year's 10in10'ers the main marathon was my 10th outing around the Lake and what a fabulous culmination to a life changing 10 days. The scenery is beautiful and the organisation and atmosphere leaves little to be desired. This truly is a very special race organised by a very special charity. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great day out Date of review: May 27, 2012
In short: "Would you do it again?" - try and stop me! In full: Absolutely fantastic race. Hard to believe it was the first running of the event. Obviously a lot of work and thought had gone into the organisation and it showed. Few very minor niggles but tbh what race doesn't have the odd niggle? Support around the course (apart from the power station) was fantastic, helped in no small part by the weather - of course that didn't help the runners!
I very much hope this becomes a regular part of the marathon scene. Date of review: April 20, 2010
In short: Even more enjoyable than last year!! In full: Yes there are niggles - no pens, congestion, slower runners/walkers getting in the way, smaller t-shirts running out early BUT it's still a cracking race in my book. And as a fundraising event that's for ALL runners then it does what it says on the tin! I don't normally travel so far for a 10K but to take part in one of Jane's races I will Date of review: June 22, 2009
In short: Definitely one of my fave races In full: Will be back and hope to do more justice to what is a cracking little race. Thanks to the organisers and all the supporters for making this a special event. Date of review: May 11, 2009
In short: As good as ever! In full: Cracking organisation as expected. Nice to see the added water stations - certainly helped to combat the rather unexpected heat. Traffic was as bad as usual but no worse than usual. Date of review: March 15, 2009
In short: What a cracking race! In full: This year's race was every bit as good as last year's. Glorious scenery, fantastic atmosphere, brilliant organisation. Will I be back? Oh yes, indeed!! Date of review: October 30, 2008
In short: Fab race In full: Thoroughly enjoyable, superbly organised, race. Couple of not so scenic parts (the industrial estate and the drag past the car boot sale) but some lovely villages along the way. Plenty of support and stadium start/finish great. Will definitely do this one again! Date of review: October 21, 2008
