In short: Good challenge at a nice race In full: I enjoyed this race - organisation pre-race was fine (if you turned up early enough) and there was never any dreaded super-long queue for the toilet!! Out on the course I could have done with a second water stop (first one was almost too early), but I don't know where it could have been safely sited that would have been useful. I could imagine that some of the narrow paths, plus the road section would have been difficult where there were big groups together, but for me, near the back, that posed no such problem. Overall a friendly race, and sausages in the goody bag! Date of review: August 29, 2010

In short: thank goodness for friendly locals!! In full: On both occasions I've chosen to run this it has been astonishingly hot - thankfully the locals support this race so well, and there are extra water stations and plenty of supersoakers and hoses out there to help us out. I'm a slower runner and got a little cheesed off with having to put up with all the kids in the first lap - they zig and zag around so much and I got kicked and pushed by some of them as they tried to sprint through crowds only to trip over them when they stopped suddenly as they were too tired. Second lap was better as the one-lappers left us alone! This was pretty much the only downside to the race - although it was difficult to work out what to do at the end; so many people milling about just past the finish line. However these people are the ones who create the atmosphere of the race, so you can't complain. Date of review: May 18, 2010

In short: Hard work for a first timer! In full: My first go at a half and came in just under predicted time. Despite my slowness (one of the last 5 finishers) I was still cheered all way round by locals and marshalls and given great encouragement. Little too hot and hilly for the prep I'd done, so can't wait to have another go on fitter, more trained, legs next year. Great t-shirt which was worn with pride for the rest of the day. Very well organised. Date of review: May 11, 2009

In short: 'just do it'...better next time In full: I think it's all been said really. Lack of useful pre-race info, too long in the stadium (I was wave 4), boring and twisty route, no medal, lack of atmosphere in general. Good points? the first few minutes of being in Wembley, easy to get to, nice t-shirts. Overall simply not worth the money and time wasted. This could have been so much better had a little more thought gone into the fact that it was a run first and foremost rather than a night of entertainment with some running at the end. In short: Fun day out and PB to boot!! In full: I found this to be a great race - I really enjoyed it and was amazed at running with so many people. The wave system at the start really worked and there were very few problems for me on course except for the odd passer-by trying to cross in front of runners (but what can you expect - not everyone is there for the race). Was surprised that there weren't more marshalls but it didn't seem to be too much of an issue. Will be back next year. Date of review: July 21, 2008

In short: Fun, but short! In full: I enjoyed this run, but I did have a few issues. The start is minor chaos as you can't hear anything - there was no starting horn or anything as far as I could tell. The water stations are great and the marshalls do a fab job. The biggest issue is that the course is most definitely not 4.5 miles! Date of review: July 4, 2008

In short: Hard work, but worth it! In full: This was my firts 10k and I enjoyed, despite finding it pretty hard going. The music in Lek Wootton certainly helped, and struggled in the quieter bits after that! But the finish was great, the run into the castle was really special. So well organised and marshalled too. Will be doing this again! Date of review: June 8, 2008

In short: Well supported, well organised In full: This was my first race, and despite the ridiculously hot weather, I enjoyed it lots. The organisation was great (I did get lucky by having someone else collect my chip so I didn't have to get there so early) and the support from the locals was fab (especially the hoses and unofficial water stations). I will definitely do this next year. Date of review: May 12, 2008
