In short: No better way to spend a sunday morning!
In full: Have ran a hell down south before but this was my first Turbo X. One word....SUPERB! Ample car parking space, only a short walk to the start area. Chip collection was very quick and easy. Great atmosphere before the race.

The race itself was superb. Definately harder than hell down south! Lots more water and mud! Cracking atmosphere and banter between runners. Somehow, myself and 4 others managed to get lost on the turbo X section....god knows how, we realised we had gone wrong after following a path for about 100m until we came to a fork, neither of which were marked, so turned back until we found tape!

Hot, hilly, wet, muddy....and totally worth it! Definately be back next year!

In short: The most fun you can have with your clothes on!
In full: What a fantastic race! After competing in numerous road races from 10K to marathons this was my first off road outing...and i'm hooked!

The atmosphere was amazing with runners encouraging each other throughout the race! The bog was an experience very hard to describe to others (my friends can't understand whats fun about wading through a waist deep bog!) and the water section was very welcoming. My friend didn't enjoy the slope into it though....ripping a big hole in the bum of her shorts!

Parking seemed to be an issue for some but thankfully we only had a few minutes to wait. Will definately be back next year for another crack at hell! and hopefully complete the other two in the series as well!

In short: Fast course - Definate PB potential
In full: A thoroughly enjoyable race. The course us fast with a definate PB potential. I beat mine and finally managed sub 1.30!

The only gripes are what has already been mentionned before. The start was too narrow and caused a bottle neck, but once out on the road it was fine! And the water cups were useless....spilt most most of mine on the floor.

Definately be back for next year!

In short: Highlight of the year...fantastic race
In full: Agree with all the positive comments below. The weather was, shall we say, a little bad. Torrential rain, hail....thankfully it wasn't windy!

The course was fantastic. The climb at mile 3 is a toughie. That is some hill...especially with floods of water pouring towards you. And lost count of the number of 8" deep puddles flooding large sections! Still, managed the course in 1.35 which was well chuffed with.

A big thankyou to all the marshals, organisers and locals for making the day one to remember. I don't think I saw a marshall that wasn't smiling...despite looking like drown rats, and their words of encouragement were greatly received!

Downton should be proud of this race. Definately be back next year, and hopefully will be able to enjoy the views next time!

In short: First time runner and was impressed. The weather was fantastic and made for a very quick race (1hr 11 mins 13 secs)
In full: I thought the wave system was a great success and the start was not very congested! I agree with people's comments re the mile markers....I missed about half! Only sour note was being issued a parking ticket at one of the "free, closed to runners" car parks, apparently shoppers were parking there so they started to issue tickets to everyone. Anyway hopefully the appeal is successful!

Definately be back next year!
