In short: Better than ever
In full: Superbly organised race, friendly marshalls and a great atmosphere. Definately one of my favourite races. The long sleeve , high viz technical top I received is worth the entry fee alone.

In short: Enjoyable as always
In full: Only a couple of small glitches that the organisers have said they will address for 2008.

As usual a real feel good factor here. This is definately 'the friendly race' and a major factor in why I joined a running club.

In short: Really enjoyed it
In full: This is a small but well organised, friendly event. When I had a question people went out of their way to help me.

The weather was glorious but not unbearably warm although a drinks station en route would have been welcome.

Managed a PB so went away happy. Will aim to be back next year.

In short: Some good, some bad
In full: First time I have entered this race and was delighted to achieve a PB in glorius sunshine. Obviously the organisers can't take the credit for the weather but I thought that the course was scenic and only a couple of hills caused concern. A few people who have run a previous version of this race and were disappoined with the enforced route change but I am unable to compare.

I did feel that the mile markers were smaller than at other races I have entered and indeed I missed the ones at 6 and 10 miles.

It was slightly disappointed with the goody bag but have seen worse. There was a nice medal so I was happy with that. I did see some race T-shirts on sale at a stall for £3 before the race but the guy there couldn't confirm if there were any in the bags or not so he lost the sale.

The baggage tent was highly efficient and my bag was returned to me almost before I reached the barrier.

The car park situation sounded chaotic but I was staying a different part of town so thankfully avoided this.

Chip timing. I don't like the type used here. It has proved unreliable in the past for me and reports here suggest similar problems. Not yet established when or if the data collected at the half way point will be released. A sign to mark the half way point would have been nice. I worked out where we were but not sure everyone did.

Finally the major issue - the lack of water. I was lucky enough to get my supply but the problems suffered by others cannot be excused.I'm not sure what the shelf life is of these bottles but surely there was no risk in ordering more than was needed. It wasn't like we were expecting something perishable like a banana each or something. Running out of water is a serious issue on any day especially a warm one.I hope steps are taken to ensure this never happens again.

In short: Superb !
In full: This is what running is all about.Friendly atmosphere, great organisation and an interesting and challenging course, marshalled superbly.

Someone has put a lot of thought, effort and a sense of humour into the compilation of the goody bag which pretty much sums up the race as a whole.

In short: Great race but a struggle in the heat
In full: 3rd attempt at this race and this was definately the toughest.

First half route change makes for a more challenging race but it is definately more scenic than before.I feel Nottingham has taken a few knocks image wise in the last few years so it is good to remove the dull bits and show visitors what a great city it is.

After the split and the usual feeling of mild dispair the long road into Holme Pierrepoint and the lake were a mental obstacle as always and it was a great relief to reach the 23 mile mark knowing you were heading for home along the river.

Made up to eventually get 3.55 in the heat even though I was 8 mins slower than last year.

Thought the Marshalls were exceptionally good and very supportive. The good weather had also brought more spectators out than last 2 years and they too provided plenty of welcome encouragement.Unfortunately the crowds were as sparse as usual on the less spectator friendly parts of the marathon route.

£13 for a T-shirt? Well at least the Nottingham shirt is more useful for sport than some of the cotton ones given away at other races but the goody bag was a little disappointing (although I was offered and took 2 !).

Minor quibbles though. This was a great event again and I will be back.
