In short: Great atmosphere. First time I've run it, although it's my local marathon. Will definitely do it again, although I prefer trail marathons.
In full: Now on my to do list for next year when I will be better prepared, such as starting in the right place, not behind the 5 hour finishers! As a result I wasted a lot energy zigzagging round people in the first half. I think the time zones should be more clearly marked. However the atmosphere and support was fantastic and the weather improved throughout the race. Without such a slow start and getting cramp in the last 6 miles, I think I could have achieved my sub-4 hour target

In short: Great pre-marathon training event along undulating rural lanes in very pleasant countryside. I have run it several times, but never in anywhere near such freezing conditions!

In short: Great value-for-money well-organised event. This was the 10th time I've run it and, despite superb conditions underfoot, it was as hard as ever. I didn't like the - hopefully temporary - new route over the last 2 miles.

In short: Tough course with a couple of long hills through pleasant scenery helped by lovely weather. Great location for HQ and the organisation couldn't be faulted, although no T-shirts seemed to be on offer.

In short: After a year's break, well organised, as before. I had forgotten how many hills there were, particularly in the second half, but did a reasonable time, despite the mud. Very friendly runners and marshals.

In short: Extermely well-organised, as usual. What other event paints hazards like tree roots?! Only significant improvement would be mile markers as, without asking the marshals, I had little idea how far there was to go at any point.

In short: Brilliant organisation, as usual, including plenty of pre-race info. Only possible improvements - a technical T-shirt and recovery drinks at the finish

In short: This is just the best marathon ever - that's why I chose it for my 100th
In full: My favourite marathon, although one of the hardest. I absolutely love the South Downs and to run along them in fine weather with some great people made it a very special day. Many thanks to everyone involved.

In full: I've done this event nearly every year since it started - including in the infamous horizontal sleet in 2007 - but have never known conditions like they were on Sunday. It took a major effort just to keep upright and the downhills were absolutely treacherous. I have never been so cold and wet that I couldn't open my gels or re-tie my laces - many thanks to the kind marshals - heroes one and all - who did both for me!

Was very tempted to just do the half, but didn't want to wimp out and eventually finished in around 5 hours - much slower than usual, but feeling good at the end

In short: Very well organised - I've seen so many marshalls - so little reason to go off route. No big hills, but the sandy, narrow tracks made for a slower time than I would have expected
