In short: Running in the rain"
In full: You can book your race place, you can book your flights, You can book your hotel and you can book your pasta meal but you cannot book the weather. It was as all the others have written before me, rain, wind, cold and bad. However the marshals deserve all the thanks and the organisers as they were fantastic. A word of encouragement from everyone i passed and always a smile in the pouring, cold rain.

I still managed to get a PB but that is only because my previous was really bad so i was lucky. The island is a great place to visit and if my budget allows i will be back.

In short: A great 10K
In full: Although i have done a few 10K's now this is a great course for beginners and pro's alike. Very friendly, well marshalled and plenty of cheers from supporters on the day. Well worth signing up for next year. Thanks for all the effort and hard work to all the organisers.

In short: Flat course, nice location.
In full: The start and finish was in a very nice part of the town. The first half of the loop (16 mile) was very scenic and made good running. The second half of the loop was plain old road running and you could be anywhere.
The drinks stations were plentifull and well manned by army cadets who were excellent and helpfull. On the downside the price of entry was very steep and the finishers mug at the end was a bit poor and did not distinguish which one of the 2 races you did. Also there was a lack of marshalls at some of the junctions in the second part of the loop which caused a few people v traffic issues.
The course was flat as promised, the people very friendly and i would do it again.

In short: A club run
In full: This race is more geared for the club runners. As a slow paced runner i felt a little bit out of it. Not a good choice for a beginner although there is no bad vibes for the ones not going for PB's or just out for a 10K jog. The water stations were fine but i was gasping for a drink at the end which there was no water available. As a previous runner said that maybe bananas and water would help at the end.

In short: It is a good course but there are some issues.
In full: The course was described as flat but the first 5K was a bit of a challenge for hills. There should of been another drink station on the way round as there was one at the 4K mark which left 6K in hot conditions although i was ok i am thinking about the fun runners who may need a bit of water in the heat. It is not friendly for public transport users as it is impossible due to an 08:00 start and also no luggage hold which is a let down. Also my last gripe is the hydro drinks had all gone when we got there which meant no water to take on before the race. On the plus sides it was a friendly atmososphere, well policed and free access to the roads. Having people remove your chip at the end was a nice touch. I would do it again but only if another 10k was not available at the time in my location. I think they could learn a lot from the BUPA capital run in terms of facilities and organisation

In short: A different type of race
In full: At first i was not very impressed as i hit 3 bottle necks within the first 2km. Then after this single file running for another 2 km. Then as the course started to open up a bit the hill came into play. But as the race went on it started to add to the challenge and i saw the race in a different light. At the end i really enjoyed it and the race momento was my best yet, a glass trophy with runners captured inside designed in glass. I would do this again

In short: A good first 10 miler
In full: This is a well organised and good run to be part of. The atmosphere was friendly and the run itself was mostly flat and enjoyable. It is a good one if it is your first time at this distance.
