In short: Good race, well organised on the whole, friendly crowds, enjoyable weekend of events
In full: First time I've done this one and had begun to regret it after reading review of last years - but they have obviously listened to the feedback and sorted most of the issues. Personally I enjoyed the run along the coast - it was quite scenic - I don't think it's practical to run all around the city centre and you're well aware of the route before you enter. Also the partial out and back route 18m then back to 26m means that friends and relatives can see you pass around 9m and be there at the finish without having to move - always a bonus for large marathons! Thanks to the hose sprayers - the heat was brutal and thanks to the last hand out Capri Sun drinks outside a cafe. Things I'd do to improve it: move the start earlier - if only by an hour, move the half-marathon to the Sat - this would avoid traffic issues getting to the start of the marathon and allow marathon to start earlier, make reunion area better signposted, and ditch the relay aspect of the marathon - it was really annoying have people with fresh legs weaving and sprinting, cutting people up as they joined the race every 10k - particularly when you'd run 20m and some plonker comes darting in fresh as a daisy desperate to make his way through the field!

In short: Quiet low key but well organised and enjoyable
In full: Decent race, the fun run that my daughter did was fairly quiet. Enjoyable race fairly low key but would do again.

In short: Very impressed - will definitely do again
In full: V well organised, excellent venue. Enjoyable race and well supported with very enthusiastic and supportive locals/marshalls. Good grandstand finish. Quality medal and T-shirt.

Will seriously consider this again for next year. Good to have a well organised race in the Northwest.

In short: Nice run in the country, v. mildly undulating good PB potential
In full: Enjoyable run, well organised (even a comedian with a megaphone at the start!). Hills pretty minimal really so good PB potential. V. little traffic - nice run in the countryside. Definitely do it again but would prefer this time of year rather than too close to a New Year hangover.

In short: Not bad race - will do it again
In full: Fairly well organised. Fairly low key. Course bit repetitive but that didn't bother me. All in all decent local run - main gripe no water at the end - suggest they ditch the banana stall if it is down to banana or water bottle or conserve the water being given out near the start - you don't really need to be handing out cups of water at the 1k mark on a 10k in October. Despite that I'm sure I'll be back next year!

In short: Good course, marshalls and locals very friendly - thanks for the jelly babies, fairly flat and cool weather so good for a PB. Downside a bit low key.
In full: Enjoyable race and glad I wasn't in the heat of London. I was really impressed by the locals and marshalls who were very encouraging though the volume of local people was pretty low and there didn't seem much of a buzz around the town that the marathon was happening - there were no banners advertising it, it felt a bit like it was unimportant - that was my major disappointment, especially seeing as this was my first mararthon. Other comments I thought the website could have been more informative e.g. I didn't know whether a race pack would be sent out or not, when I arrived I wasn't sure where the start was - in the end I just followed other runners. However, I shouldn't moan too much I did really enjoy it - I just think these issues would make the race even better.
