In short: Excellent Race In full: Excellent race. Started on time, well marshalled (say a bit more marshalls!)Good to get the uphill over with at the start. Thought the last kilometre was fun. You had to really think about where you trod! Good gifts at the end. - Mug and Easter Egg. A couple of small point for organisers to note: On line entry wanted Reg number of UK athletics otherwise you had to put unattached. We don't all know that by heart, so trusting a name of running club would have sufficed. (Not the money, just wanted to see the name Sudbury Court alongside my name). Stayed to watch most ruuners coming in and a few turned into the field and thought they had finished. Had to call out to then to run to the finish. Maybe a more vocal Marshall just before that point. Hung around, but no announcement of when presentation would be. Otherwise great route, nice crowds, good VFM and would do again Date of review: April 7, 2010

In short: Good weather as rain was forecast! In full: Good race apart from the start. The problem was that runners approaching the start had to do so through the front of the start line. So many slower runners then just slotted into the front spaces and this proved for congestion at start. Otherwise good race, plenty of room on prom after start. Zig Zags gave it a bit of interest. Some KM markers were quite a bit out 2 and 7 I think. Good T-Shirt and medal Date of review: March 28, 2010

In short: Sunny Day! Yes but Freezing wind!!! In full: Having read a few of the reviews, I couldn't believe no-one had mentioned the cold! Maybe I'm just a wimp. KM markers very poor. Have none rather than 2 in the wrong place. 5KM marker would have been good. Otherwise well organised at start with no panic and cheap entry on the day. Lovely course. Agree that guy at start could have been a bit more chirpy. T-Shirt and Medal great. Water half way fine. I suppose finish line could have been clearly marked. Good old fashioned timing and noting numbers down. Highly accurate and on-line the same evening, better than a couple of events I have been at where the chip timing has gone to pot. In short: Rain held off and even a bit of sun! In full: Good flat race which I have done a few times. Could have done with a 5-4-3-2-1 at the start. Marshalls very encouraging and were doing their job well in the dangerous places. (to those who thought there were not dangerous places, that is because the Marshalls did well). Runners at finish wlaking aimlessley across where other runners were still coming in - be aware. Good to get a cup of tea after. Could not wait for presentations, maybe could have been a bit earlier - as per previous years? Overall great race, well organised, and worth noting that "running clubs do it better!" In short: Good race - Hope a lot is learnt from this to make even better next year. In full: For a first time race this was good. Excellent course, although quite busy. Obviously the starting in waves was done for safety, but felt that maybe a couple of waves max after a lap of the field? I notice someone said it was a bit short, so that may make up for it. Seemed the right distance to me, although some of the KM markers were out. Marshalls could have been better. I had to stop one lady turning right at Hammersmith Bridge! It would have helped if the Marshall at the bottom had said "up the steps and left over the bridge" Not all had local knowledge. Felt as it was for a worthy cause, then cost was OK, but prizes were due for 12.30 and if you want us to wait around for an hour and a half then take advantage and make a bit of money out of us by having drinks and cakes/chocolate etc.. We moved on to a local cafe. Chip timing is good, but not too sure how expensive and given the waves of runners, then some good old fashioned timing would have sufficed. Just deduct the time held for each wave when doing the results. Maybe get a local running club involved who can give advice. Shame that the drivers around the first 1KM couldn't read! As they seemed to pretty much ignore the "Caution Runners" signs and go much too fast. Overall - Good with a lot of potential to be an excellent race. Date of review: October 11, 2009

In short: A very good race In full: Well organised parking. No queue for on the day entries. Baggage guy. So all this good. Announcer giving time to race very good. Guy calling people onto the road needed to realise people could not hear him, so maybe someone herding at back as well. I think they were worried about traffic. Uphill came as a bit of a surprise as so many talk about the downhill!! I would like to see more of the runners milling around at the end within 20 yards of the course, cheering on the slower runners as they finished. There are lots more slower runners than fast, so encourage the slower runners, they will turn up again and make the race viable. Races then continue to exist and then we are all happy! In short: Good race, things to learn and improve. In full: A very challenging race through a lovely part of Kent. Marshalling was pretty good. It must be boring for them, but just try and cheer or clap every runner. Water stations OK. Thought some of the bottles were quite large at 1 station? Good cheering in the villages makes it worthwhile. Hill at 10 Miles very hard. Against all my principles I walked a lot of it and only 3 people passed me running it. Sad to say they were quickly overtaken later on and I did feel guilty about that. Guy at the finish calling out names completely missed me despite fact no-one was 40 yards in front or behind me. Seemed to hear him arguing with someone about being in the way as I was going up the final gravel track. Could have done with a couple more people manning the water at the end. Oranges were nice, but when I went back to get more water, they seemed to have run out for the latter runners?! Or had they by then been put in the goody bags? Decided to wait for the prizegiving as heard that would be in 10 minutes at 1 o clock ish. Waited around for 40 minutes and finally they took place. Saw some prizewinners very anxiously waiting and then people questioning if they had heard correctly. Perhaps someone should have come over and said that there was a problem. Looking forward to getting my chip time, to see how many people finishing in front of me I might have beat. Thanks to everyone who did help and made it a good race. Date of review: May 26, 2009
