In short: A great traditional cross country race, scenery, mud and hills. In full: This is a response to Kitty's race report, perhaps some background explanation may help explian why there is a cut off in a one lap 15 mile cross country race. I will declare an interest,I belong to a local club Eton Manor, I have run the Orion 15 many times, its one of my favourite races. I volunteer to help when i don't run it as was the case this year. Kitty, your point concerning the water station being after the cut off is very valid and I will feed it back to the organisers. A cut off point is necessary, why? well we started trail laying on Saturday at 10am, then some of us join the 30-40 or so team of marshalls. Early one's in position by 2pm. The early marshalls then tend to cover the latter stages, even with a cut off some marshalls are out for over 3.5 hours. A 15 mile circuit crossing a number of roads requires a lot of marshalls out in the forest in all weathers for a considerable time. This is why a cut off is in place. For this Orion ask for £15? £30? £50? No they ask for a donation for what the runner feels is appropriate. It cannot compare to a corporate city 10k race which has paid marshalls. As mentioned at the start, your point on the water station being after the cut off is valid. Your comment on the cut off is not. Date of review: March 24, 2011

In short: Well organised race, ideal for beginners, great to run up to Olympic stadium. In full: Good organisation, friendly marshalls and fairly priced in comparison to some other races. Medals handed out by Sharon Davies and Tessa Sanderson was a surprise bonus. Good out and back course turning at the olympic stadium. Flat, lots of turns to slow you down, but it is possible to get a pb on this course. Only minor gripe was the narrow start, it would be better to start outside park and allow everyone to run at their pace immediately. Def do it again. Date of review: April 19, 2010

In full: Don't go expecting a PB, it's a tough multi terrain course. I liked the mix of farm tracks, fields and country lanes. Really friendly marshalls and well organised. It was exceptionally hot and the organisers laid on plenty of water stations. Date of review: June 29, 2009
