In short: I haven't experienced a challenge like it - superb support In full: Supported every step of the way, which makes this an absolutely ideal intro to ultra distance events. One heck of a challenge. Prepare for the stiles and not just the distance as the rickety wooden structures litter the downs and are really hard to get over when you've stiffened up. In short: Hills that could make you weep In full: A painfully hilly course but so beautiful. I could neither walk up nor down most of the route but from my vantage point I didn't see many people running up the steep bits. The other runners were really supportive and the cadets did a great job of keeping us on course. A fantastically challenging run and no burning straw bales in sight. Date of review: June 19, 2012
In short: Great off road conditions and really supportive marshalls In full: The route was about 500m short which is a shame but I'm only sore because I still didn't manage a pb. Great location which is amazing as they had to switch routes at the last minute. Facilities were good (loads of portaloos - sorry the reviewer below missed them). Date of review: November 10, 2007
In short: Bubbly marshalls, good atmosphere and a nice route. In full: One of the smaller races I've attended and I was presently surprised. There was a good atmosphere, the weather helped, it was kid and supporter friendly and the bbq at the end was a nice touch. And the beer!
Chip timing was an added bonus and the route around the river is sufficiently flat to enable pb's although you do have to deal with the bridges.
Could have done with a bit more water for the stragglers at Hammersmith Bridge. Looking forward to doing this next year - it really helps that it is on my doorstep. Date of review: September 2, 2007
In short: You can't describe this as flat, but it was FUN In full: Superbly organized affair with a decent "running" t-shirt and a nice medal. The run had some unexpected hills but the marshalls did a great job of supporting us all through the effort. Fantastic sprint opportunity at the finish as there was a very welcome downward slop to the line.
It was shockingly early and the location at Bluewater along with the absence of luggage holds meant this was only really a race for car drivers. Date of review: August 12, 2007
