In short: In good weather a great event In full: Perhaps it's mainly the fact I got a PB exceeding my expectations but I really enjoyed this race. A good size field but not too big, good parking and changing facilities, cheerful marshals. I found running round the airfield great - having so much space around and seeing runners streaming out ahead and behind. I can imagine that on a windy day it's a real challenge, but the weather this year was fine. Not the greatest memento. But the race was only £7 and I was a fan! Date of review: December 11, 2006

In short: Bristol half marathon organisers, look and learn! In full: Was seriously impressed by this race. Organisation, spirit, crowd and route were all excellent. Admittedly I started about a quarter of the way back in the orange wave so avoided most congestion (that proved to be pretty much the right place for a 1.16.xx time), but had a terrific run. Obvious comments about the weather, and the rain did make the trek back to the city centre car parks pretty unpleasant. But the parking was free and I got away with very little delay. Not a cheap race but definitely the best "big" race I've done. Date of review: October 24, 2006

In short: Nice route, big crowds, very congested race, not cheap In full: I didn't think the course could really deal with the number of entries allowed. People also didn't seem to be very separated according to expected times, meaning it was mile 7 before I even managed half a dozen clear steps. Mile markers were also completely hopeless. So I decided very early on just to enjoy the run out. The crowds were the biggest I've ever seen at a race and the atmosphere was good. Some sympathy for the marshals dealing with such a number of runners. Glad that I'd brought plentiful food supplies of my own for the finish Date of review: September 18, 2006

In short: Great bargain, great atmospere - nice day out In full: Did this race in 2005 and came back. Very family-friendly event (kids loved the warm up) and the bargain of the year. Great medal, T shirt, chip timing and more. And top class organisation. The route is attractive enough and pretty flat but both runs have convinced me it's not a PB course Date of review: September 5, 2006

In short: Good race, not spolit by the weather - a fine fun run In full: This is billed as a fun run and on that basis it's great. I was hoping for PB and although I got it there were some minor niggles on the way - I don't know if it was just the increase in numbers up to 4000 this year, but the start was very congested and most km markers were low and easy to miss. But that's to carp. The fact is it was well organised, enthusiastically marshalled and raised a lot of money for a good cause. Date of review: May 21, 2006

In short: We had wind, we had sun, we had rain, and did I mention the wind? In full: Well organised event and an absolute bargain for £7. Marshalls were very helpful and the atmosphere was good. Only real down side was that the changing and loo facilities at race HQ were on the limited side. The weather definitely affected my time, but was pleased with the result. In short: A well organised, good value run, with a good sprinkling of forumites taking part In full: The experience and know how of Eynsham Road Runners showed through - good signing, facilites and organisation. Quite a lot of serious runners but a supportive, not intimidating atsmosphere. I liked the two lap format and it was flat enough for a PB, though paths were a bit narrow in places. All in all, good value and glad the snow kept away. Date of review: November 28, 2005

In short: Excellent event, splendidly organised, great fun In full: Agree with others' comments - a treat. Glad of the early(ish) start on a hot day. The beginning of the race was well planned and seemed to allow everyone to find their own pace. Marshalling good and drum band an excellent idea. Medal and shopping/parking vouchers added to excellence. Only micro-criticism on a fine event was that I missed a few of the km markers, which were not very prominent. But big thanks to those involved. Date of review: September 5, 2005

In short: Flat course, crowd not big but supportive, nice marshals In full: As others have said, the route was nearly all along cycle paths, which were wide enough to avoid congestion. There seemed to be quite a few club runners, which helped me to a PB time (thanks!). Date of review: June 27, 2005
