In short: With a few tweaks this would be a great event In full: Given this was the first running of the event it went very well. Good course over mainly traffic free lanes, excellent marshalling, good finish area and goody bag. Would echo other comments over the start and number of toilets. Sort these two relatively small points and this could easily become the best half marathon in the West Midlands. Date of review: May 4, 2011

In short: A classic example why you should never let a council organise anything! In full: Totally agree with other postings that this was a fiasco. Being local I managed to avoid a lot of the travel issues but the start and finish were a joke. Only good point was the support along the route. This event reflects badly on Birmingham - tried mailing the organisers this morning and, guess what, their address is down. The event needs to be taken over by a professional company such as those that organise Reading, GNR etc. Maybe something positive will come out of the Public spending Review and this event will be outsourced!

In short: Well organised run over tough course In full: Great day - five minutes quicker than last time I ran this helped! Congratulations to Stratford AC who organised a superb event - slick organisation, well marked course, excellent supportive marshals etc etc. Not the easiest course with long gradual incline from 2-5km and then the hill - definitely easier the second time round when you know what to expect. 2nd half much more enjoyable being mainly downhill!! An event that should be on everybodys new year schedule. Date of review: January 19, 2009

In short: Nice event in town centre + you can do your Xmas shopping after! In full: Nice race with good organisation on a fast course albeit difficult to overtake given narrowness of paths and runners going in both directions. Minor niggles:- It's a 10k race - markers should be in 'k's! Water station at halfway on the wrong side meaning I and many others didn't realise until we saw cups on the floor and by then it was too late to go back. On the subject of water, more help needed to pour/distribute at finish - but biscuits were a nice touch! Will be back next year. Date of review: December 22, 2008

In short: Shambolic start and finish spoiled what should be an excellent event In full: Like other reviews very disappointed at the lack of organisation at the start and finish. Needs 'grading' at the start - unlike others my issue was the quick runners who were clearly ill prepared and not at the start at 9:30 that then proceeded to charge through the field. You can blame the organisers all you want but need to take responsibility to be at the start at the appointed time! More concern was the finish of the half marathon - tried to sprint for the line but couldn't cross due to a queue. How on earth are they going to allocate times? If you're not going to use chip timing then it needs a longer funnel and more than one lady taking numbers. Otherwise an enjoyable event with great marshalling and good support. Sort out the start/finish and Ill be back. Date of review: September 8, 2008

In short: Extremely well organised event over a scenic course In full: Very friendly and well organised mid week event over a traffic free course which seemed to have more downhill than up! Only room for improvement would be start where (as always) some people think they're quicker than they really are and start too near the front. Given relatively narrow course this causes frustration. Otherwise excellent race with friendly marshalls, good support, nice memento etc. Will be back next year.

In short: Good course, friendly event spoiled by the start In full: First time at this event which generally was very well organised with ample marshalling, plenty of water stations and a great finish in the Market Square. Would echo other comments over the start - after 27 years I'd have thought this would be straightforward? Sort this out with a proper line, a PA system and clear out the parked vehicles in the first 400 yards and this would be a great event. Overall a very enjoyable day despite the headwind and an event I shall look to do in the future Date of review: August 12, 2008

In short: Well organised friendly two lap run In full: First time at Chasewater but won't be last. Very well organised event although PA to call people to start would have been helpful. Don't usually like two lap events but this was a good course albeit narrow in places particularly as open to public. Course is exposed in places making running in to the wind hard work. Very friendly and encouraging marshalls. Overall a good event that deserves the support of the local running community. Date of review: July 20, 2008

In short: Brilliant day In full: Superbly well organised event with loads of freebies. Really friendly atmosphere, loads to keep you entertained, good marshalling etc. The organisers should be proud of their achievements. One very small moan - as it's a 10k race couldn't the distance markers be in 'k's? My brain couldn't work out milestones in that heat! Date of review: May 11, 2008
