In short: Top race - yet again In full: Really enjoyed yesterdays race, great organisation (again, THANK YOU to all involved, organisers, marshalls etc) and the course is a good workout with those hills! I got a decent tim 1.27.25. The sun shone, the crowds cheered and those hills were attacked and defeated (grrr, c'mon hill, do your worst!) - and it only takes me ½an hour to get there from Edinburgh. All in, a great day out, which did the town of Dunfermline proud, and to cap it all, a great maroon colour t-shirt at the end - superb for a HEARTS fan like myself lol;O) Date of review: May 11, 2009
In short: Great race yet again and friendly atmos. FAB! In full: Have left a post on the forum but will just reitterate, what a great race this is (even though it was frrrreezing!), spot on organisation, very friendly and superb t-shirt and goodiebag and medal for the price of entry.
£15 is an absolute bargain imho.
Some of the mile markers couldn't be seen (well, 12 anyway, but by then I couldn't care less as I'd conquered 'THE HILL'), that was the only little prob. Just a brill little race and a lovely course though, espesh the road at the foot of the Ochils. Would recommend to anyone really, took me 45mins to get there from my pad in Edinburgh.
Definitely be back next year. Oh, and I did it in 30secs faster than last weeks Edi½, got round Alloa in 1h/33m/32s. Not a PB, but a decent time anyhoo!
Cheers to all who took part. Date of review: March 25, 2008
In short: Probably only do it as I live in Edinburgh & it's close! In full: Thought the new course was OK, but have run that area lots in previous Edi ½s and full 26milers. Getting to start is pretty difficult, Cramond is not easy to find, I'm OK, I live in Edi, hate to think what'd be like if I didn't. Felt sorry for people having to get shuttle buses from Musselburgh all the way to Cramond. My girlfriend parks away from the racecourse and we walk 10 mins back to car and get outta dodge no probs. I enjoyed finishing at the racecourse, but that's not the be all and end al, might be better to start/finish at Ocean terminal again next year. Very tight at start as well, I was late and got caught at the back, there was no room to fight my way through slower runners so no PB this time. Baggae collection was terrible, though chocy bics in goodybag were ace. Don't want mentions of other races on my T shirt - even though I'm doing one of them.
I didnt read about people being discouraged from not turning up to support, shocking if true. Not many people out on the course this year so a bit dissapointing. All in, a step back from the vast improvements of last year. Lessons to be learned, but a decent enough race, and with the wind in right direction PB potential immense.
