In short: Fun race but can be quick. In full: Not entirely sure about the start as it was a little cramped in a somewhat dystopian area of Liverpool. It did cause a couple of issues at the start, but they were ironed out quickly once things were underway.
Personally, I found the downhill through the tunnel a benefit as it allows you to get warmed up nicely for the short uphill onto the prom, where it gets a little more scenic.
There were a couple of markers missing - nothing unusual for a race - and the end stretch was preferable to the finish being visible for miles.
The end was well organised, with volunteers being helpful.
Well done to Alan and his elves! Date of review: June 9, 2014
In short: Enjoyable and well organised. In full: Due to some late entries the start was delayed but this is a good thing as it means more people are running. I think it was about 700! The course is generally flat and fast apart from a bridge half way. However, I knocked 45s off my PB from Alsager.
Thanks to all involved! Date of review: April 12, 2009
In short: The best so far. In full: Well, the new course is great and Parliament was not bad at all. Running through three parks and through some of the more historic parts of Liverpool was a great idea.
Getting a little too close to the Albert Dock by going the wrong way at the start was a pain though. I am not going to wave a pitchfork at Alan though. Date of review: March 29, 2009
In short: Fast and flatish. In full: The milling around at the start was a bit weird, especially when the huge lorry approached the crowd. However, things went well when the race started and the marshalls were fine. Mile 10 drained so much energy due to the wind and it was a very gentle but relentless incline. The last mile is very fast. Good race for PBs. Date of review: February 16, 2009
In short: Good fast race. In full: Maybe previous reviews have coloured my opinion, which is largely positive. The start IS very congested and there were a few people who hit the deck. Once started though the race is flat as any and a good few supporters along the route. Thanks to all who cheered us on!
Chip timing may help alleviate some of the pushing at the start. Date of review: February 1, 2009
In short: Ejoyable rop through the forst on a Sunday morning. In full: It was like the fairies had scattered a layer of pixie dust on the trees and ground. It was cold! Good, fun race. Weird corralling at the start with the barrier though! Thanks to the organisers for a good race. Date of review: January 4, 2009
In short: Great race with a mixed field. In full: First, thanks to all involved in the organisation. Well organised race, traffic free and pretty fast, despite the 'undulations'. There is something for everyone here! Date of review: December 28, 2008
In short: Good, fast race. In full: I thoroughly enjoyed this race. The weather was great and the organisation was good. Pretty flat with a few inclines. Will be back. Date of review: November 16, 2008
