In short: It can be hilly darn sarf
In full: About as tough as it gets in the south, I guess. Very well organised and I like these early Saturday starts - a whole weekend to recover/feel good about having done it. But what sort of races do you people doing the ratings normally enter?! This is showing 31% PB potential at the moment. The only PB you're going to get on this course is for this course!

In short: Great atmosphere and set up
In full: I entered this late but never for a moment regretted it (well okay, maybe for a moment, once or twice during the night). It was really well organised and I thought the format worked well.
It was a bit disconcerting at times to keep being passed by all the relay runners who were fresher and faster - but the relay meant there was always a good atmosphere and plenty of encouragement for us solo runners.
I can particularly recommend this for anyone who's new to this kind of event and just wants to see how far they can go with no pressure to finish a set distance.

In short: Top marks to the organisers in the worst of weather
In full: I can't speak highly enough of the organisers and the marshals in particular who gave phenomenal encouragement in the constant rain, cold and - worst of all - biting wind. I did this as part of a '2012 miles in 2012' charity challenge in memory of my dad, who died a year ago. He'd have said we were all mad for doing it - and he'd probably have been right. Will be back again though.

In short: A decent effort in grim weather
In full: This is one for the future when the mix of adult and younger persons' runs won't always have to contest with such cold wet weather. Nice t-shirt and medal, especially if you're a Spurs fan.

In short: If only all races were like this ...
In full: I don't think I've ever looked forward to a goodie bag before but the thought of the huge Toblerone waiting for me at the end of the second day put a late spring in my step ... This was a great, small, uber-friendly event with a level of organisation and attention to detail that was simply outstanding. And that goodie bag - in which the Toblerone was only the biggest item among many - was a real treat.

In short: Friendly local race
In full: That hill (x3) is hard but (re comment below) there's no shame in walking it. I thought it was a friendly, well-run event.
It's some distance short of six miles though, so worth measuring properly for next year.

In short: As good as last year
In full: This is a nice, friendly run on quiet roads. My knee didn't like the long downhill near the end so I had a bit in reserve to surprise a few people by sprinting up the short hill at the end!

In short: Kebab, cake and plants galore - oh yes, and the race
In full: Having this as part of the village fair/show is great. I had a pre-race kebab, a post-race cake and came away loaded down with plants and other goodies. The encouragement from people at the the fair was worth it in itself. Highly recommended - hope to be back next year.

In short: A grand old obstacle course
In full: I csn't believe people actually race this! It's a mad obstacle course, dodging fellow runners, street furniture, road works, signs, pedestrians, cyclists, tourists, even a roller blader coming against the flow. But great fun for all that, well organised with a good atmosphere for a good cause.

In short: Caught him!
In full: Caught the banana - but had to run faster than I intended to do it just before the finish!
