In short: A circular route that feels mostly up with a bit more up
In full: Excellent organisation. Well marshalled route. It's hilly, off-roady with splashes of Tarmac & down hill. Tough but fair. And worth it for the chocolate cake at the end! Loved the medal this year :))

In short: I love this race as beat a 5-year standing PB :)
In full: This will always be special as I knocked over 5 minutes off my half-marathon time from 2006. It's not hilly .. if you're used to Stainland hills (Yorkshire). I recently did Great Langdale Half so by comparison this was flat!!
I like the smaller races and this was well organised and well marshalled. The locals that came out to support us were brilliant.
My only suggestion for improvement would be if there was any way to get to the finish without having to face into the leaving traffic.
Anyways, a great race which I'd recommend to all. And hats off to the marathon runners for going round twice!!

In short: Well organised & friendly race
In full: Very well organised, friendly marshalls and runners who were very encouraging especially on the more challenging parts (aka uphill!). Some really nice touches like your name being called out at the finish line which was lined with faster runners clapping us in. And the momento mug was perfect for that cuppa at the end ... with a selection of (free) cakes to die for! A fantastic race!

In short: eugh uphill, wheeee downhill
In full: I did the inaugral race last year and enjoyed it so much, I came back this year ... and knocked over 5 mins off my time :) A tough course with the first 7 miles mostly in an upward direction but then the joy of the last 3 downhill. Great medal and superb spread in the club afterwards. See you next year!!

In short: If you need to clear your head ....
In full: ... then this cheeky little race is perfect. When not admiring the views, you're gritting your teeth to climb upwards or watching your footsteps as you fly down. Excellent organisation, a challenging course, good value and great cake :)

In short: A lovely day out
In full: A very enjoyable, local race with some very supportive marshalls. Yes its hilly and not great for a PB but for a mild challenge with some lvely views and people its perfect. Only niggle was that I couldn't see the 'funnel' finish due to some over-keen supporters and nearly missed it (the guy in front of me did) which resulted in me nearly tripping up the guy behind me. I 'raised' this with the marshall and some more tape was brought out and spectators moved ... its truly great to have the support but it shouldn't compromise runner safety. That said, it was sorted very quickly and it certainly won't stop me recommending the race or doing it again next year!

In short: Lovely run in beautiful countryside
In full: Easy to get in/out & park and no long toilet queues . . in fact all the organisation was fantastic. Cheerful marshals round the course and scenery was definitely helped by the glorious sunshine we had! I wouldn't consider this a hilly race (coming from Stainland) but it is challenging due to different types of terrain underfoot - fields, trail, puddles and tarmac - which also made it great fun. Thanks to all those involved for putting on such a marvellous race for a great cause :)

In short: Excellent day out with a spot of running!
In full: The new course is so much better (in 2008 it was 2 laps starting in a muddy field) and I really enjoyed the race. Tea & cakes in village hall were magnificent as was sitting in the sun by the castle ruins watching everyone have a great time at the gala. As for the run - I really enjoyed it. Undulating rather than hilly, mixture of trails, tarmac and some cross country over grassy/boggy fields - just brilliant! Excellent organisation and lovely goody bag & medal. I'd so this again and recommend it!

In short: Big hills but great views
In full: I loved the James Herriot books and now understand his descriptions of the beauty & ruggedness of North Yorkshire. Even in July it was windy and rainy on the tops . .. and those climbs!!! But worth it for the views and lovely atmosphere as the runners & marshalls were a cheery bunch who always had a word of support and a smile. I was disappointed as no medal (as stated on RW website) or goody bag at the end :( I felt like I deserved a medal after that run!

In short: A well organised and enjoyable event
In full: Excellent organisation by the Harriers and, as roads not closed and cycle event on, the marshalls did a superb job of directing and protecting runners!

Lots of support from spectators made this a very enjoyable way to spend a summer evening - and the rain held off! It is a hilly course but the views and downhill sections make it worthwhile.

Thanks for a great race!
