In short: taxi anyone??? - where were those coaches at the end? In full: from the begining not convinced on the organisation - sent off application & cheque and didn't hear anything back - after i sent a chaser email, got a reply saying i had given a different email address.
plenty of parking at the start - bonus for drivers.
picking up numbers was a bit chaotic as the registration queue turned out to be the queue for the 4 toliets. better signage at start venue might have helped.
and why give T-shirts out at the begining? (although good to get a proper sized one.)
the actual course was lovely - except clambering over the locked gates and taking life into hands trying to get across the un-marshalled roads. Bottlenecks in a couple of places meant complete standstill for a minute or so - with non-runners caught in the middle - not great for them.
getting over the finish was good - as rain was starting to come down heavy (not fault of the event!) - however - not having enough foils was. so now left for an hour - with no foil, no cover - no sign of the organisers - rain and wind in the middle of an open space -complete shambles - absolutey ruined the run.
must however say a thank you to those marshalls who did turn out in the rain at the 2 drinks stations - thanks to whoever cut up those oranges! and thanks for the biscuit at the end.
overall - if the coaches had been organised properly - this would be an absoulte winner. Date of review: March 6, 2012

In short: this is my 7th London - will keep coming back for more In full: where else can a lion and rhino run side-by-side and go over the finish line hoof in paw? - or a rhino high-5 a panda? 3rd London in a Save the Rhino costume...crowds are brilliant - even after 7 hours, they still cheer you on! great organisation - lots of water - St John's were brilliant with the calf rubs and salty drinks. will be back next year for sure! 2011 Brighton Marathon 2011

In short: with sun shining - beautiful In full: This is the 2nd year I have run Brighton - and was please that 8ooo people didn't turn up - it meant more crowd cheering for the rest of us! Bit of a let down was the Park and Ride - despite being informed this will be clearly signposted, it wasn't - I ended up parking at the football stadium. At the end, I was told the shuttlebus only goes to Molecombe - so even if I had parked in the other area - there would have been no bus back.
Apart from that - I was running as a rhino - and could not thank all the volunteers and stewards enough - being about 15miles behind the main crowd meant I ran (trotted) most of the marathon by myself - but the volunteers made sure I was given all the encouragement to keep going. Special thanks for Colin at the 14.5mile water station - and to the St John's crew who helped me on and off with a sweaty sock & trainer to dress a blister when I couldn't get the costume off.
The crowds were amazing - yes most of them were already sunbathing on the beach by the time I got to the beach front - but they all got up and cheered me past the last 4 miles.
I finished in 7hr 14min - there was plenty of water left (unlike London) - the stewards weren't closing down (unlike London) - the medical sweep up team were encouraging, polite and professional. It was great that the Mayor was still at the finish to see the last person over the line - he came and shook my hand - which was a lovely touch. Even the photographers shouted words of encouragement. I could go on forever - this is simply a lovely marathon - i already feeb back to BM last year and hoped it wouldn't get too big - I hope they keep the cap down - or it will become a soley commercial marathon - rather than the fun and uplifting one it is. A bit shocked at the price of next year....but will still enter again....but maybe I'll leave the rhino at home. Date of review: April 13, 2011

In short: a worthy rival to London In full: the thing is...i really want to say how bad Brighton was - only to keep it the same next year!...it was absolutely fantastic and don't want it spoilt!!!
i got there early as i forgot my timing chip - the helpline was open and, yep! - helpful! managed to pick up another chip at preston park no problem.
the start was a bit delayed, but for us at the back it gave us a chance to compare fancy dress costumes, so wasn't an issue. (does anyone know how SpongeBob got on??)
plenty of water (i've run London 5 times and on 4 occasions they have run out of water for the slower runners), so great to have that on a hot day.
the marshalls were great - encouraging us with loudspeakers. DJ at Powerstation -well done! - the crowd didn't hang round for long - but we enjoyed it!! i thought "the wall" was a great idea - i ran through it shouting "i've smashed it"!!! - gave me a real boost. great finish down the sea front - you just had to keep running - the crowds really gave support to everyone. great goody bag with Body shop goodies - and great to have sized t-shirts - finally got one to wear with pride instead of confined to outsize garden wear!!
PLEASE don't increase the numbers next year..it was perfect!!! well done to everyone involved - best marathon i've done. Date of review: April 19, 2010

In short: good out and back- with interest on the shingle! In full: Great organisation - with lots of parking nearby (a plus if you are from "out of town"). If it had not been raining, this would have been an excellent, uplifting run - but with the rain - along with seaweed and deep puddles - concentration was required on where to put the next step!!!
Everyone was really friendly. The marshalls were great (thanks for coming out on a wet Sunday morning!! :) ) Nice to have the faster runners cheering us slow ones at the back over the finish, and a nice bit of soup at the end to warm up with.
loved the hot/cold pack in the goody bag - well used already!!!
hope to see you next year. Date of review: February 22, 2010
