In short: Tough but enjoyable! In full: The weather could have been better but that was nobody's fault. The marshalls did a great job in terrible conditions and there were some residents and spectators along the way which was quite encouraging. Usual queues for toilets and parking but nothing horrendous.
My only gripes were the lack of goody bag (only because they said there would be one)and the steep entry fee.
The only reason I would pay it again is because of the fantastic challenging course. Date of review: March 6, 2007
In short: excellent race In full: This was the first time I had done Wycombe and despite all the scaremongering about 'THE hill', it wasn't too bad at all. I think though my opinion would be different if it was at the end of the course though!
The marshals were great, the local support was good despite the naff weather and the goodie bag and paperweight were brilliant value for money particularly when compared to some other races.
Will defintely come back next year. Date of review: July 9, 2006
In short: fantastic In full: sunburn, insect bites and a dusty trail followed by a hose down by a fireman at the end and yummy mummies handing out fairy cakes - what more can you ask for??
Seriously, this was the first time I had done this race and think it has been my favourite for a long time. The course is challenging with plenty of uphill work that makes a PB quite difficult. The organisation was excellent and whilst there were lots of club runners there, everybody seemed very welcoming.
If only all races were as enjoyable all this one - will definitely be back! Date of review: July 2, 2006
In short: Enjoyable race In full: The first time I did this race. Nice route although the 'slope' up to Halton was tougher than I had envisaged - managed to set a PB though. Nice shoe bag too. Date of review: September 5, 2005
In short: Excellent all round race In full: I have now done a few 10K/half marathons but I think that this was perhaps the best organised so far. The event was organised excellently and the course was well marshalled throughout. The route was pleasant and varied although the weather did make it quite a challenge and put pay to any PB potential for me. In fact, when crossing the dry ploughed field in the searing heat, I realised how a desert camel might feel (not because I have a hump on my back of course you understand!)
