In short: Challenging Race cos of the undulations but definitely worth doing
In full: Well organised, great cheerie marshals most of which appeared frozen in the -2C with wind conditions. The 3 miles up from the start become the 3 miles back down to the finish - with a fair amount of up and down in between - so appropiate pacing required throughout - they did lay on buses to take you back to your car if you got it hopelessly wrong. Would say this isn't a PB course but I know several who did PB although they also all seized up over the next few days. Wear road shoes there are a couple of trail bits but you'll cripple yourself in trail shoes over this distance. Definitely worth doing and you'll even enjoy it if your strong over a hilly half.

In short: Wasn't fast so much as..... very fast - well organised - if your targeting a 1/2PB this is the race to get it
In full: Perfect running conditions in the sunshine.

Let's be honest ...wasn't too sure about a race on the streets of Peterborough but was pleasantly surprised and impressed ....with large number of good people of Peterborough coming out their front doors to cheer on us runners.

Was possible to hold onto a 10k pace all the way round making this a very fast - very flat course on closed roads.

Noticed their 'Fun Run' is now a 5k which was also very fast - don't know if it's cert measured - but if so definitely worth doing if your not up to the 1/2 distance.

In short: Enjoyable race along and over the river - well organised with good marsalls
In full: Hottest day of the year so was always going to be a struggle. I really enjoyed the course albeit multi-terrain and very twisty...although running when it's so very very hot and so close to water could be construed as a form of torture

The new bridge over river at had an interesting earthquake feel to it as was oscillating so much ... some people said it made them feel a bit sea sick ..... you'd pay good money for this at Alton Towers (other theme parks are available)

In short: Edinburgh is an amazing city - Marathon had good points but also some bad
In full: Starts off like a big city marathon but then becomes a rural one.

On the positive side - the way the marathon was started from 2 starts at different times meant there was practically no congestion - so this is what makes it very possible to get a PB and gives this race a fast feel.

On the negative - the finish didn't have enough room for the number of runners. Would cause problems if people started collapsing in the finish - like on a hot day.

I don't know the politics of moving the finish from last year off the race course - but would suggest they look again at where the race finishes/goes - maybe route it back to Edinburgh somehow (like to Holyrood Park?)

The marshals were good - I witnessed them having to deal with frustrated car drivers - maybe need more road closures on safety grounds.

Most races get their atmosphere from the spectators - But I think it was the spectators who got the worse deal here - as they struggled to give support along route and at finish.

In short: Great Race - Great Marshalls - makes a 10 mile race feel like fun
In full: Perfect Weather and Very Friendly Atmosphere - Nice Route through the Picturesque Countryside and Grest Marshals. I don't think it ever gets better than this. Even the donkeys got over excited and were charging up and down in their field - it was that Good :)))

In short: Very well organised ...... well worth doing as a spring marathon warm up race
In full: A very friendly race over a slightly undulating course (that's flat compared to Ashby20 & Oakley20 standards). ....and as one of the many smiling marshals on a water station pointed out to me you see more of the lovely countryside doing their race then running round in the dark in RNR. Well worth doing as a spring marathon warm up 20 or if your keen on 20 milers for fun.

In short: Very Very Hard with Beautifull Devon Scenery & Happy Marshalls in the sunshine....
In full: The weather was good for a day on the coast with perfect running conditions .......so they made sure the courses were as hard as possible !!
I can see why this race is so raved about and now understand why they don't have any Finishers only Survivors.

In short: well organised friendly race .....and the weather was very kind this year
In full: Perfect race conditions - which is not the norm from past experiences here....was even able to smile for the official photographer :)
You do get a good mile warm up reaching the Start and the numerous hills are good for early marathon training. Thanks Yaxley Runners for organising a testing race ......and arranging the good weather.

In short: Magnificent Marshals in abominable race conditions
In full: Well considering how bad it got with cold rain, wet leaves and the wind blowing down bits of the very undulating course - FVS made this race a success with excellent marshals. It looked as if it was going to be a grim old hard slog on the start line and in that respect it didn't disappoint.... well you can only come out mentally stronger from all this....physically your wrecked.
