In short: A race to inSPIRE you...
In full: This is a great run and one of my favourites. A lovely run in the Wiltshire countryside along the banks of the Avon. The second 5 miles is slightly harder than the first, but once you see the Cathedral spire you know its down hill all the way back. Friendly marshals, who did their best to control the traffic. Impatient drivers are not their fault. Excellent pre and post race facilities, lots of free parking and a decent t-shirt. I like the t-shirt design this year.

In short: e for PB's
In full: Don't let the marks for scenery put you off. This is a race for PB's not pictures. The course is flat, 80% traffic free and well marshalled. Extra credit to the organizers for the re-route at the garage. Marshalls were friendly and encouraging. Pre-race organisation (baggage etc..) was smooth and well organised. All in all a top race well done Gosport RR. Finally you do get a sea view in the last 2.5 miles.

In short: Fantastic views.....
In full: Probably some of the best views in a road race. A challenging rural race around quiet, leafy country lanes, with one main road after about 11 miles. Well marshalled with well positioned water stops. The views come at around 7 miles across the Solent towards the Isle of Wight.

In short: Sun At Last......
In full: A sunny fresh day greeted the ruuners for this 10 mile road race around the North of Salisbury. The course took in country lanes along the banks of the River Avon. Very scenic running next to the river. Could have done with some more marshals to control the race and traffic on the 5 miles out. All in all a very good race with a nice t-shirt at the end.

In short: A nice race to end the Summer season.
In full: I ran the shorter Slug again this year and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

A scenic run comprising of woodland tracks, open fields and cart tracks. Roads were kept to minimum, only being used to link up the off-road trails. The hills were challenging but not tough.

Well done to PJC for hosting. See you next year. I may even give the longer slog a go.

In short: Ouch!!!!!
In full: A nice run in and around the Milland Valley. Although it was a warm day the shade of the woodland trails kept you cool. Lots of mud, hills and trails. Roads were kept to a minimum and were used to link the off-road trails. Excellent marshalling and cheerful helpers at the water stops. Well done Liss Runners.

In short: Great Day Out
In full: Who needs post race mementos when the real prize is running through scenic countryside. The Combe Gibbet is a wonderful race, running along wooded pathways which open into lush green grassy fields. About 1 mile of road in total which is used to link up the off-road sections.

Friendly and well placed marshalls offered encouragement during the race.

In short: Tough but scenic.
In full: A bitterly cold day didn't stop around 300 competitors turning up to compete in this HRRL race. A scenic but hilly course taking in Ryde,St Helens and Nettlestone. Well done to the marshals for providing support and encoragement on such a cold day. Smooth organisation apart from the confusing finish. It had moved from its original position earlier in the morning. Also well done for publishing the results and photos so quickly.

In short: A New Challenge For 2009
In full: Firstly thanks to SGR for not givivng up and organising a 2009 event.

An excellent new course which was traffic free for about 8K. The course took in quiet roads and country lanes. Highlight was the view across the bay at 6-7K.

Well marshalled with lots of encouragement.

The new course is far better than the old, so perhaps the police and council did us a favour.

In short: A fast five.
In full: Sadly this will be its last running in December, as of next year the race will be run in Sepetember. A wonderful crisp and sunny afternoon greeted the runners to this excellent pre-Christmas 5 mile race. The course takes you along the Hilsea foreshaw around the North Harbour Business park and back again. A traffic free route and good marshalling. If you are looking for a fast 5 mile PB then this is the course for you.
