In short: Good City Centre race, great atmosphere
In full: 2nd year of this race. The HM course is challenging with some steep inclines if you're from East Anglia! The scenery was changing from urban to park and woodland which was nice.
Can be crowded as you have everyone in the first half, but it did thin out a bit towards the end.

Good Local Support and an excellent vibe in the race viallge.
Didn't like the metal tracks to negotiate coming back into the park/finsh area, but otherwise a great day.
Not the cheapest HM, but well organised, Water is plentiful and abundant- Edinburgh could learn a lot from this model of multi races on the same course.
Will definitely be back to have another go or maybe try the full marathon.

In short: Excellent race, well supported and great vibe
In full: First time here,, I did the half, my husband did the full race.
We both enjoyed the event, the HM part of the course is hard and hilly to us East Angular residents, but the parks were very nice to run round.
Toilets at the start were plentiful and abundant and still in a useable condition when I finished the HM!
Race Village was excellent and kept me occupied while waiting for my husband to finish.
Will definitely be back next year

In short: Nice race, very flat, not as windy as in previoous years
In full: Nice race as usual from Thorney. The course is very flat and ideal as a first race. It can get windy and exposed on the fen road, but it wasn't as bad this year as in previous years.

25th anniversary momento was a bit mean- we've had nicer bags from the folks at Thorney and was expecting something a bit more special for the 25th anniversary.

I would like to suggest that the joining instructions are updated to clearly state the rules about headphones etc as there was no mention of it on my instructions and had there been, there would have been no need for the referee to enforce the rule during the race.

In short: Well organised, friendly, fast, flat race
In full: A fast flat course, although the Fen roads offer no shelter from the wind when it starts to blow.
I always enjoy Thorney races, they are well organised excellent marshalls.

In short: Another excellent event. great race and atmosphere
In full: One of my favourite races of the year. I love this event, it's a nice run around the fen countryside, The piper at the top of the hill is a welcome sight as you know you're near the end. Weather was kind to us today and actually felt quite mild once you got going.
And you get a beer at the end of the race:-)

In short: Well organised, friendly race
In full: Good Marshalling, this is a a nice race round the countryside. The Fen landscape is rather open and exposed, so there is norespite fromt he wind, but as it's as flat as a flat thing flattened not surprising.
Only thing that marred my race was yet again having to deal with inconsiderate elite runners cooling down on the race course, getting in the way of us slower runners still racing.

In short: Fast, flat and a good vibe
In full: This is my local race and I love runnign it. so it's not scenic and not pretty, but it is well supported and the atmosphere is lovely. Running the route the opposite way round made the route faster as there seemed to be more downhill sections in places.

I didn't b this year as I have been injured, but if the route is the same as this years in 2010 I will definitely be on for a massive pb:-)

In short: Well organised and friendly race
In full: First time here. Enjoyed the event very much. Water was plentiful and abundant at the many stations around the airfield. The marshalls were friendly and efficient. Special mention to the 2 girls near the gatehouse who cheered and clapped every runner going by:-)

The airfield section is rather souless, but you did feel you were getting somewhere with the changing scenery.
The course is quite undulating- the hill at the start was a surprise to us.
Will definitely be back as an ear infection and injury cost me a decent time, so will return to try for a better result.

In short: Lovely scenery and great support, Water situation was a disgrace
In full: I enjoyed myself at this race, mainly because I employed a survival rather than PB strategy from the start, taking the heat into account.
There are no excuses for the first water station to be dry- I was at the front of the Blue pen and did panic when I realised my own 1.2 litre bottle might have to last me a long way.
The kindness of supporters was much appreciated when word got round about the lack of water and people shared what they had.
In a marathon it shouldn't be a lottery about whether you get water.
If faster runners were taking 2 bottles or more, shame on them, it is so selfish and disrespectful to us slower folks, who are going to be out there for twice as long as them.
I finished in 5:25, and was probably one of the last to be allowed the Gosford loop.
I would do this race again, but I would bring my camelbak next time to make sure I have enough water, but I shouldn't have to if a marathon is properly organised.

The reunion area was non existent, I went the wrong way out of the stadium and had problems finding my family as there was no-one available to ask.
This was a problem on the course as well- lack of marshalls.

In short: Well organised, scenic race
In full: Enjoyed the scenery and the race was well organised.
Experience only spolied by the selfish actions of 2 NVH runners deciding to do their cool down by running back into the course at the slower runners.
