In short: Fast out, slow back In full: Lovely run in the North Downs. Deceptively fast first 5k, and deceptively slow last 5k. I thought I was on for a big PB by 6k, then it all slowed down as we trudged back uphill. Very nice village event, will be back next year! Date of review: September 8, 2009

In short: Beautiful run with a tough last third. Great family day out. In full: Superbly organised event around lovely Bewl Water, mostly on trails which were rutted and stoney underfoot in places, but fortunately very dry. By about mile 10 I had to resort to some walking, which became more frequent as we went up more hills towards the finish, but most people around me were doing the same so I didn't mind. Nice goodie bag and cakes, although we'd have liked somwhere to sit down at the end which wasn't a field full of sheep poo!
Incidently, the children's entertainer in the pub garden during th race was very funny apparently, but what did happen to the bouncy castle? Nevertheless, an event for all the family. Date of review: July 6, 2009

In short: Get plenty of hill training in beforehand! In full: Superbly organised event. My first half marathon and found it pretty tough on the uphills, and pretty tough on the downhills! Would have had breathtaking views if it'd not been so hazey. Mile markers would have been nice but probably didn't matter in the end. Very pleased with a 2.08 considering the terrain - all other half marathons will probably be a doddle compared to this! Date of review: May 6, 2007
