In short: Marmite race In full: love it and hate it...firstly a very BIG thank you to all the wonderful marshals who despite the conditions where very upbeat and supportive, the organisation was faultless and despite the weather (the worst i have raced in for over 8 years) the course is great for a two lap event. This really is my marmite race as i love all the above, my hate is the momento, having done this race in 2007/08/09 and having walked away with gloves, bumbag and towel (all of which are in the loft somewhere) i decided to return again this year and left disappointed with a yellow hat to add to the loft collection. In short: The Best race EVER ! In full: Love this race and back for my 9th time, fantastic atmosphere as always this year and brilliant costumes which makes the event fun well if you can call it fun, although i did enjoy being Dangermouse. A big thank you to Dr Rob and his team and all who marshaled, roll on Leith hill and then the picnic.... Date of review: January 4, 2016
In short: 4th and probably last for me In full: I do wonder if the organisers will cut back the distance next year? well they cut posting the race numbers, cut the size of the kit bags, cut the size of the medal. Such a shame the organisation of the race has declined year after year, having to travel to Brighton twice is a joke to collect race numbers, this may have been forgiven if the expo was worth going to but as like last year i walked in got my number and walked out, stands of unknown products and ridiculous prices, what happened to the days of leaving an exhibition with a bag full of free goodies and a smile. Who had the idea to reduce the size of the kit bag? they have never raced before,if it had been a cold morning a coat/jacket would never have fitted in them along with clothes, it was bad enough trying to get kit in there this was clear to see at the finish when bags on lorries had clothes spilling out of them, and the baggage lorries were a disgrace i waited over 15 minutes to get my bag. What happened to the huge medal that was always one of the things that brought me back year after year. Sadly the race has become more about profit than people and i will not be back, Paris for me next year. Date of review: April 19, 2015
In short: enjoyable half In full: A enjoyable half once you have got the beachy head climb out of the way, nice atmosphere and a great run to include as part of marathon training. Date of review: April 19, 2015
In short: Back for my 8th time In full: A great race, yes the inclines are testing but the course is enjoyable and as always the local support is amazing. very well organised. Date of review: April 19, 2015
In short: Back Again In full: There is something with Trionium races that keep you coming back year after year. I was back for my 4th Leith hill and as always it ticked all the boxes, great if not tough course, fantastic atmosphere, an outstanding medal, t-shirt and crystal glass cube at the finish. Will be back again next year... big thanks to Rob and his team and all the marshals.
See you all at the Munro ! Date of review: April 19, 2015
In short: fantastic 3 days In full: Back again for this event for the third year running and as in previous years the organisation was great, the courses testing, the atmosphere is fantastic and its funny when you you see the same faces over the three days. The only downside which for me and some of the other runners i spoke to after the last race was the poor medals this year the one after each race was average but the medal for having done all 3 should have been something special not only for covering the distance but for also having given up most of the bank holiday weekend to take part in every race instead it was the same as last years and not what you would expect. For that reason i may not do this again next year and opt for another race over that weekend. I would still recommend this to anyone who has not done it before. Date of review: May 6, 2014
In short: not what i expected In full: Having heard good things about this race i was looking forward to it but some work needs doing on the organisation. First of the parking was a nightmare, when i did manage to get to the start area and saw the baggage queue i headed back to the car to get changed on returning to the start i found the longest queue for toilets that ive ever seen in my 9 years of racing ! With the negatives out of the way the course was fantastic and the local support was really good, sadly this never ticked the boxes for me and won't be one that i would do again in the future. In short: Loved it :) In full: A brilliant race ok its tough but the course is stunning, the encouragement and atmosphere from fellow runners was lovely. The organisation is superb, the marshalls were fantastic, the medal, T-shirt and pint glass was a great reward after those hard fought 13.1 miles. Cant wait to come back again next year. Well done Rob and all the team.
In short: i cant stop returning to hell In full: Back again and i've been waiting all year for this, there is something so loveable about going to hell and the recent weather made it so much more erm.. loveable ! the course is brutal the hills tough and the bog of doom well that was just crazy. The atmosphere is electric and you don,t want it to end. Can't wait to return next year :) if there was one area that needs some improvement it would have to be the desk area that was trying to give out race numbers on the day along with the kids race numbers and T-shirt collection it was choas in there.
