In short: better but improvements still needed
In full: although i said i would not do this race again due it being poorly organised the last few years it fitted perfectly with my marathon training this year. lovely course with a great crowd and a day by the sea, yes improvements have been made i got my bag straight away and the finish with 2 helpers to each section last year i waited 15 mins and jumped over the barrier to get my bag in the end.
the start does need re-thinking the baggage is at the end of the drive so runners and watchers who have dropped their bags off have to walk back and fight the runners trying to get to the baggage area, maybe a one way in one way out system is needed ???
might be back next year.

In short: not what i expected !
In full: Being no stranger to these type of races i had been looking forward to this for some time but despite what you see on the official race video it never lived up to expectation, parking was poor, course was ok, not your normal race atmosphere seemed to be more bodybuilders than runners. general organisation was poor but medal and t-shirt were very good but at a price.
I would like to say a big thank you to the kind lady doctor who helped me after my fall whilst i waited for the medic to arrive, being in so much pain i dont remember saying thank you !

In short: enjoyable local race
In full: a new race for me and i enjoyed it, had the weather not made it a water logged and muddy course the potential for a pb is there as it is flat. organisation was good and the course was well marshalled, parking was fine but i wish race organisers would put a post code on the entry forms to make it a little easier to find.
one moan would have to be about the medal !! it states cranleigh 15 miles !! not sure if this is a mistake or they were the left over medals from the 15 mile race back in march ??? would i do this race again ?? maybe if there was nothing else on.

In short: nice but not as good as previous years
In full: have done this race for a few years now and yes the cancellation of the show and fair took the highlight of the race for me. to be fair the weather was a big problem but some of the last minute changes worked well, parking was fine in the allocated car parks but the club house was a nightmare if like me you entered on the day. at the end you got a nice medal which made it all worth while, lastly a BIG thank you to all the marshalls who braved the horrible weather without you races would never happen....

In short: carlsberg dont do races but if they did this would be it ..
In full: wow, what a fantastic race i can only guess that the organisers have looked at the best bits from other races and rolled them all into one and made this race...faultless from the parking, start, the route, water stations, lucozade stations, sweet stations, wet sponge stations, water sprayers, orange stations, fantastic marshalls, great medal and goody bag, beer, cakes, brass band, if you dreamed a perfect race this is it !!! oooh no just thought they missed something.. the topless blonde 38gg cheerleaders station :) oh well maybe next year :) to be serious i cant wait to do this again, what really made my day was meeting fellow ultra picnic runners from last saturday and swapping stories, so glad to hear some done it and some like me who failed, wonderfull race and getting a silver medal has got the feel good factor back in me....

In short: The most brutal run ive ever done
In full: Firstly to everyone who completed the picnic you are legends....this was my 1st ultra and i failed :( after reaching the cut off point 6 mins to late it was all over for me, 1st i knew even if i a few mins quicker i would have been finishing in the dark 2nd i knew in my heart i couldnt do another 14 miles.
despite this i enjoyed it so much the atmosphere, the friendly runners who encouraged me time and time again as we past each other, the superb marshals and most of all dr.rob for the faultless organisation of the race.
As always a excellent t-shirt, medal and cap complete drinks and food at the finish.
Today i dont know what hurts more the legs or the feeling of failure ??
i will be back on the hill for the knacker cracker.

In short: Amazing.....
In full: I am no stranger to adventure races but this had to be one of the toughest ive ever done ! the recent weather made it one tough course and doing two laps certainly tests your stamina. Very well organised and a great atmosphere, the last wall is a killer but the oohh and arrghh i had from the crowd when i twice failed and slid back down made me even more determined to do it and on the third attempt i made it.
i am covered in cuts and bruises but loved it and will be back again next year.

In short: an amazing weekend
In full: I think organising a race would be tough going but to do three is some achievement and fair play to the nice work team they pulled it off in style. east grinstead was tough and muddy but i loved it, haywards heath and a good mix of road and trail another great race and lastly burgess hill muddy and multi laps due to the weather but still i enjoyed it.
The whole weekend was amazing, very well organised, fantastic marshalls, friendly runners and was nice to see the same faces day after day.
this race will get bigger and bigger as word spreads which could make it even harder for the organisers next year.
If i had one poor thing to say it is the medal for those who done all 3 races and done the 26.2 miles marathon medals should be big and bold and stand out from all others whilst the medals for the individual races were ok the one for all 3 failed to impress ! i would rather had no goody bags or t-shirt and had a better medal or small trophy for doing all 3 but thats just my opinion.
well done nice work i cant wait to do it again next year :)

In short: day 1 of 3
In full: that was one tough muddy course mainly due to the recent weather but i enjoyed it (except the middle section that had no mud)
well organised and marshalled.
