In short: Tougher than I thought it would be, but the support was tremendous.
In full: Tough course due to long incline coming out of tunnel followed by hill up Parliament Street 1.5 miles later, although you benefit from coming back down this hill in the last 2 miles. New Brighton at miles 5 to 8 is testing, as it is exposed and windswept. A varied course with great views, 3 parks, a tunnel, a city centre and some good entertainment along the way. This is almost up there with NYC and London and better than Berlin and GNR. The welcome coming out from the tunnel will live with me forever.

In short: Great race, pity about the wind.
In full: Was hoping for a PB, had trained well, but unfortunately the wind was fierce and seemed to be against for most of the first 10 miles, after which there was a nice downhill, downwind stretch for 2 and a half miles, but by then I was running on empty. Missed a PB by 3:30 (1:33), but it felt like a PB in those conditions. A good day all round though, despite being hit on the head by a tent pole when registering the kids for the fun run when the marquee got blown over! They enjoyed their run though, and I hope to be back next year for a quicker time, I don't mind it being hot or cold or rainy, but please God, make it a bit calmer next time.

In short: Superb conditions, good atmosphere, I recommend this race.
In full: My first 10 mile race, there should be more of this distance, it felt much faster than a half marathon, more like a stretched out 10K. I was near the front at the start and was impressed by the speed of the better runners. Nice and scenic in parts, only 2 uphill sections, nothing too severe, with the 2nd one leading to a nice downhill into the last mile on the prom with a good crowd to see you home. Well marshalled and organised, the only slight criticism being the 2 water stops. I would prefer a bottle than a paper cup, I spilt most of it! A fast race, I was expecting 76-77 minutes, but came in at 70, which is what I would normally take for 9 miles. Looking forward to doing this one again next year.
