In short: A really fantastic event. I did the half option, and even though it is uphill overall I had a great time. The hills were challenging rather than killers and the marshalling was great! Date of review: October 6, 2009

In short: The hour long delay was not good, completely messing up everyone's pre-race preparations especially when there was nowhere to shelter. There were also massive delays at the end. But at least we got a t-shirt for the increased entry fee # In full: It's always difficult when the weather is bad. But when everyone has travel plans and race strategies an hour long delay is far from ideal. The runners' village would normally have been a good bet in such a situation, but was a complete quagmire this year, which meant that I decided it wasn't even worth using the bag drop. The 2 separate starts did ease congestion slightly at the start, but the 9 minute mile pacer from Runnersworld decided to run at the same speed as the 8 minute runner, which confused quite a few people. The entry fee this year was extortionate, but getting a t-shirt made up for it slightly, and green&blacks biscuits were also pretty welcome. Water stops were frequent and well-stocked and manned, supporters were good despite the weather and overall I had quite a good race, but that hour of waiting in the cold and rain definitely made my day a lot worse.
